John Hagee: Ebola is God's punishment for Obama 'dividing Jerusalem'

Ebola may be part of God's judgment for President Barack Obama's alleged attempts to "divide Jerusalem," said John Hagee, a San Antonio-based pastor and founder of Christians United For Israel.
Citing the Book of Joel, the televangelist took to Tuesday's broadcast of the "Hagee Hotline" to tell listeners that "our president is dead set on dividing Jerusalem. God is watching and he will bring America into judgment," according to the left-leaning Right Wing Watch.
"There are grounds to say that judgment has already begun, because he, the president, has been fighting to divide Jerusalem for years now," Hagee said in a YouTube video posted by Right Wing Watch.
"We are now experiencing the crisis of Ebola," he said.
Hagee, who heads Cornerstone Church, added that threats from Islamic radicals and ongoing unrest in Ferguson, Missouri are all part of God's judgment on the United States in response to Obama's policies.

KAMPALA:
Police have blocked former Forum For Democratic Change president, Dr Kiiza Besigye, from attending an electoral reforms meeting organised by NGO Forum in Masaka.
Police officers in uniforms and plain clothes condoned off Hotel Brovad in Masaka Town and ordered Dr Besigye out of the meeting which had convened to collect views of local leaders, politicians, religious leaders and members of the community in Buganda sub-region held on Thursday on electoral reforms.
Organisers said, Dr Besigye had not been officially invited but as a citizen he had a right to attend the meeting and give his input as one of the leaders pushing for the reforms.

Ms Evelyn Bukirwa, the chairperson of the organising committee, said the meeting targeted every citizen and could not lock out Dr Besigye although he had not been invited.
“I needed his opinion as a Ugandan on how we can push for reform in the country and all people have a right to have their input in the move to have a free and fair election in Uganda” Ms Bukirwa said.
Masaka NGO Forum coordinator, Mr Mwanje Lubowa, said they had received a directive from security agencies not to invite Dr Besigye.
However, Dr Besigye told journalists he had not been invited for the Buganda sub-region workshop but as a citizen he had a right to participate in the meeting.
Masaka RDC, Mr Linos Ngopek, said he was surprised to get information that Dr Besigye had come for the meeting yet they had agreed with organisers not to invite him.
Masaka deputy regional police commander, Mr Edward Mugweri, defended their action, saying members had told them they were uncomfortable with Dr Besigye’s presence.
All the LC-V chairpersons and their councillors in the seven districts were invited regardless of their political affiliations but most of them were represented apart from Emmanuel Musoke the LC-V chairperson for Kalungu district who also quit for other special duties shortly after Besigye had left.

FDC’s Kizza Besigye kicked out of Masaka NGOs workshop

Besigye (R) talking to Masaka Mayor, Kayemba Afaayo after being kicked out
Former FDC President Kizza Besigye arrived quite early to attend the national NGO forum workshop for South Buganda regional leaders at the hotel.
But he didn’t last 10 minutes. Godfrey Mwanje, the chairperson of Masaka NGO Forum, approached Besigye in the conference room and requested him to leave the venue. He said if Besigye stayed, the workshop would be shut down by security.
A calm Besigye stood up and, in the company of Masaka Mayor Godfrey Kayemba Afaayo, left the conference room and the hotel before the workshop officially started. The workshop was attended by leaders of local council IIIs to Vs from the central districts of Masaka, Rakai, Kalangala, Sembabule, Bukomansimbi, Kalungu and Lwengo.
Also invited were officials from the Electoral Commission in those districts and police. In an interview moments before he left Hotel Brovad, Besigye said since he was one of the organizers of similar workshops at the national level, he did not have to be invited to attend the one in Masaka.
The two-day workshop, which started on Thursday morning, was meant to discuss, among other issues, electoral reforms as the country gears up for the 2016 general elections. According to Besigye, he left without a fight because he did not want the workshop to be stopped.
Mwanje, who invited Besigye to leave, said he met with the Masaka RDCs and the district police commander on Wednesday and discussed who would attend the workshop.
“In that meeting, we agreed that Besigye should not attend the workshop or else it would be blocked totally,” Mwanje said.
He commended Besigye for agreeing to leave. Masaka deputy Regional Police Commander Edward Mugwere said Besigye had not been invited to the workshop.
“Our role as police is to keep law and order. If Besigye was not invited for this workshop, there was no need as to why he would come. We, therefore, had to respond to the organizers’ plea that he leaves forthwith,” Mugwere said.
After Besigye’s exit, the workshop continued without any other hindrance, although a number of members from the opposition remained upset.
“This country is not for President Museveni, Kale Kayihura or the NRM government; and so, they should not drive us the way they need,” said Salongo Senzoga, the secretary for FDC Masaka district.

Father Paulino Mondo, the assistant parish priest, told this newspaper that the cross as a symbol of faith is necessary as protection against HIV/Aids, wars, unemployment and rampant accidents, among others, that have continued to affect Ugandans.
“We hope with this crucifix, things will change. We have a lot of hypocrisy among politicians,” Fr Mondo said yesterday.
“Even Daily Monitor needs this cross because you have been closed and later opened for talking the truth,” he added.
The crucifix in religious denominations represents Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Father Mondo said the crucifix measures 50 feet, while the image of Jesus Christ is 15 feet. The whole crucifix weighs 2000kg and is considered the biggest in Africa.

Recent Convert to Islam Guns Down Soldier Before Opening Fire at Canada’s Parliament Building
Recent Convert to Islam Guns Down Soldier Before Opening Fire at Canada’s Parliament Building

Michael Zehaf-Bibeau was born as Michael Joseph Hall, but recently changed his name after becoming a Muslim. He was the son of an immigration official, and has a history of criminal charges, including weapons possession and robbery. According to reports, Bibeau was recently marked as a “high risk traveler” and his passport had been seized.

Michael Zehaf-Bibeau is the latest Jihad-Jack in Cannda, a follower of Muhammed.
Yesterday morning, the 32-year-old gunned down 24-year-old Cpl. Nathan Cirillo as he was standing guard at the National War Memorial. The soldier later died of his injuries.
“I looked out the window and saw a shooter —a man dressed all in black with a kerchief over his nose and mouth and something over his head as well—holding a rifle and shooting an honor guard in front of the Cenotaph, point blank, twice,” eyewitness Tony Zobyl told the Canadian Press. “It looked like the honor guard was trying to reach for the barrel of the gun. The honor guard dropped to the ground and the shooter kind of raised his arms in triumph holding the rifle.”
After opening fire at the memorial, Bibeau proceeded to the parliament building where shots could be heard ringing throughout the hallways. He was shot dead by Sgt.-at-arms Kevin Vickers. The area remained under lockdown for some time yesterday as the shootout took place.

The incident is now being considered an act of terror. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued a statement yesterday surrounding the matter.
“Canada is not immune to the types of terrorist attacks we have seen elsewhere around the world. But let there be no misunderstanding, we will not be intimidated,” he said. “In fact, this will lead us to strengthen our resolve and redouble our efforts and those of our national security agencies to take all necessary steps to identify and counter threats and keep Canada safe here at home, just as it will lead us to strengthen our resolve and redouble our efforts to work with our allies around the world and fight against the terrorist organizations who brutalize those in other countries with the hope of bringing their savagery to our shores. They will have no safe haven.”
The incident occurred just two days after another Muslim man, being called the “ISIL-inspired terrorist” by Harper, struck two members of the Canadian military with his car, killing one and injuring the other. Martin Couture-Rouleau had been the subject of investigation this year and had been blocked from leaving the country this past July when he allegedly sought to travel to Turkey.
“It’s very difficult to know exactly what an individual is planning to do before a crime is committed,” Superintendent Marine Fontaine of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police told reporters on Tuesday. “We cannot arrest someone for thinking radical thoughts; it is not a crime in Canada.”
Reports state that Rouleau had praised the Islamic State on his Facebook page, and wrote condemning remarks about Jews and Christians.

Lady Gaga’s Judas – Spreading the Occult Gospel
May 22, 2011 By
“I feel the symbolism behind Judas and the metaphor is actually beckoning for you to lean forward, and say, ‘Okay, what is this she’s really trying to say, what is this really about,’ and I think it liberates the word [Judas] in a lot of ways. It takes the negative into the positive.” — Lady Gaga
With much hype, controversy and media anticipation Lady Gaga’s video for the song “Judas” finally debuted to millions of views ( it can be viewed here). The mega pop star sought to shock the world with her song “Judas” an ode to the disciple who betrayed Jesus Christ and for thirty pieces of silver agreed to help have Jesus arrested and unlawfully executed. In the video Lady Gaga plays Mary Magdalene, a disciple of Jesus Christ in the Bible. However in the video, Mary Magdalene is in a romantic relationship with Jesus and is caught in a love triangle between Jesus and Judas and ultimately chooses Judas. Both the relationship between Mary Magdalene and Jesus, along with the elevation of Judas are hallmarks of Gnosticism, a mystical spin-off of Christianity that takes all of the Biblical concepts and turns them upside down.
In Gnosticism Lucifer or Satan is actually a liberator who was sent from the unknowable, remote, God to bring “light” and wake up humanity who is trapped in the prison of the material world. Thus in contrast to the Bible, the serpent’s offer to Eve in the Garden of Eden, which helped bring sin and death into the world, was really the offer of the secret knowledge or Gnosis. This Gnosis allows man to raise his consciousness and become god. Additionally, in the Gnostic texts, Judas, the villain of the Bible, was a hero who worked together with Jesus. All of these ideas go completely against the basic truths of the Christian faith and the video’s imagery puts them on display.
Gaga’s Love for Judas

The video for Judas opens up with a biker gang driving on a highway. From the biker jackets we quickly note that this is supposed to be a depiction of “Jesus and the Twelve Disciples.” Gaga is riding with “Jesus” but soon, Judas shoots ahead of the pack and captures her attention. It is clear from the shot that Gaga is captivated by Judas who gives her a glance as he pulls off. So the video confirms the lyrics and the Gnostic understanding: the choosing of giving one’s love to Judas over Jesus. At the same time the symbols of Jesus as a part of a biker gang distort His true image as God and creator of the universe and makes Him much more like a regular human.
When he comes to me, I am readyThe opening verses of the song also set the Gnostic tone. The lyrics take moments from the Gospels experienced by Jesus Christ (the washing of His feet which was done to worship Him, being denied three times by the Apostle Peter) and credits them to Judas. This is what Gaga called “turning the negative into the positive”, which is precisely what the Gnostic Gospels try to do by twisting the Biblical account. In the Gnostic Gospel of Judas, the traitorous Judas is portrayed as a hero who was actually given special knowledge from Jesus that no other disciple received. And the supposed “betrayal” was nothing more than a pre-set plan between Jesus and Judas to appear Jesus was going to be killed. The book then goes on to deny the resurrection of Christ. This is a preaching of a different Jesus altogether than the Jesus of the Bible. The Biblical authors were so concerned about this dangerous spiritual heresy that the Bible says if anyone preaches a changed Gospel, or speaks of a different Jesus or different Holy Spirit, “let them be accursed.”
I’ll wash his feet with my hair if he needs
Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain
Even after three times, he betrays me
I’m just a Holy fool, oh baby he’s so cruel
But I’m still in love with Judas, baby
The Gospel of Judas account also says that Jesus told Judas that the creation of story of Genesis was not true and that Jesus laughed at His disciples as they prayed. It would indeed be foolish to believe in these heresies. The Gnostic Gospels were written 200-300 years after the New Testament and were never considered a part of the Bible.
Gaga as Mary Magdalene
Now before the video was even released Gaga’s video director made it clear that in the video Gaga is playing Mary Magdalene. The notion that Mary Magdalene was not just a disciple, but the wife and mother of the children of Jesus was heavily promoted by Dan Brown’s DaVinci Code (it’s mentioned five times in the book) based primarily on a book that cites the Gnostic Gospel of Philip. This novel is very important example as the DaVinci Code went on to be one of the greatest selling fiction book of all time with over 80 million copies sold. This book (not to mention its subsequent movie and copycat novels by other authors), took the indoctrination of society into what Manly P. Hall calls “The Mysteries” into warp speed. The symbols, conveyed through the depiction of characters and scenes, are more valuable than words in the way they can affect the subconscious. At the same time, these Gnostic ideas seek to damage the credibility of the Holy Bible.
“Symbolism is the language of the Mysteries; in fact it is the language not only of mysticism and philosophy but of all Nature, for every law and power active in universal procedure is manifested to the limited sense perceptions of man through the medium of symbol. Every form existing in the diversified sphere of being is symbolic of the divine activity by which it is produced. By symbols men have ever sought to communicate to each other those thoughts which transcend the imitations of language. Rejecting man-conceived dialects as inadequate and unworthy to perpetuate divine ideas, the Mysteries thus chose symbolism as a far more ingenious and ideal method of preserving their transcendental knowledge. In a single figure a symbol may both reveal and conceal, for to the wise the subject of the symbol is obvious, while to the ignorant the figure remains inscrutable. Hence, he who seeks to unveil the secret doctrine of antiquity must search for that doctrine not upon the open pages of books which might fall into the hands of the unworthy but in the place where it was originally concealed.” –Manly P. Hall, The Secret Teachings of All Ages p. 38
“I try to write from a really honest place when I write pop music and carry the song into a more deep and more symbolic visual…” — Lady Gaga
There are many problems with the claim that Jesus was married. For one, the Bible never states this, nor hints at any type of special relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene. She was one of many women who traveled in the group of people who followed Jesus Christ and the Disciples. Additionally, no secular historical source that we have today claims that Jesus was married. And certainly there was no love triangle that involved Judas. But that does not stop the video from providing a visual of it:
I couldn’t love a man so purely
Even darkness forgave his crooked way
In this effort to redeem the name of Judas, the song suggests forgiveness of Judas or the “bad ex-boyfriend for his treachery.” But even as a metaphor, it is not accurate to compare an ex-boyfriend’s mistreatment to Judas betraying the Messiah. But the video repeatedly seeks to reinforce the “normalcy” of Jesus. This is taken to another level in one of the big scenes in the video.
The imagery of “Jesus”, Judas and Mary Magdalene in a tub is offensive and blasphemous in its own right. Jesus Christ is the foundation of Christianity. The entire faith rests upon His life, death, resurrection and testimony. To distort or alter His character in any way that is different from what the Bible states is to attack Christianity at its core. And this video represents one of the worst portrayals of Jesus ever produced. But because of the star power and media support Gaga receives, her blasphemy is written off as “creative art” or “freedom.” (However, one only need to remember the widespread criticism and condemnation of Florida Pastor Terry Jones in using his “freedom” to burn a Koran or the immediate censoring of a cartoon image of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad on South Park by Cartoon Network once they learned that Muslims were offended by it. Christianity gets no such respect. )
Enter The Lady in Red
As Gaga starts her dance number she is in a red outfit. This is another powerful Gnostic symbol. In Gnostic/Illuminati-themed movies the character of the Lady in Red seems to always make an appearance. “The Lady in Red” serves as a temptress or prostitute, who lures the hero into evil. It is also another title for Mary Magdalene. In the ‘Guide to Meditation’ published by the Gnostic Magdalene Church, describes a ritual to provide union with the goddess Mary Magdalene as : “This is a basic self-initiation and meditation with St. Mary of Magdal, Our Lady in Red.” p. 34
In addition to being the consort of Jesus Christ, the Lady in Red has two other roles:
- To seduce those who are good into a new way of thinking that is against the established God and order of the world.
- To provide a pathway for her followers to obtain godhood and “liberation.”
The Bible on the other hand provides the true identity of this “Lady”: “.. and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” Mystery Babylon in the Bible is the harlot prostitute signifying a system that pulls society into sinful corruption to prepare it for the arrival of the Antichrist.
Gaga’s Lyrics celebrate the role of the Lady in Red:
Other depictions of this Lady are seen in ‘The Matrix’, one of the greatest Gnostic-themed film ever made.
In the most Biblical sense,
I am beyond repentance
Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind

In the film “The Devil’s Advocate”, Keanu Reeves (there he goes again) plays a lawyer who is unwittingly offered a job to work for a man who is actually Satan. Connie Nielsen in this film plays the Lady in Red who was sent by Satan to seduce Reeves into to working for the Devil by committing adultery with her.The Lady in Red – Working for Satan.”
The Lady in Red goes by many names but one of the most common is’ Sophia’. And this goddess figure can also be pictured with red hair. In the DaVinci Code the main female character, who eventually finds out that she is supposedly a descendant of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene, and thus “divine”, is named Sophia.
And just in case there was still any doubt of the connection between the Lady in Red symbol and Mystery Babylon, the Ordo Templi Orientis, an esoteric society brought to prominence by the infamous Satanist Aleister Crowley, has its official website titled “scarletwoman.org”
The Woman in red or Mystery Babylon symbolizes spiritual adultery that leads away from the good and towards the the Mysteries: practices of spirit channeling, meditation and other esoteric And this woman in the bible sits atop the Beast of Revelation which is symbolic of the preparation for the Antichrist. Today countless videos, movies and pop culture entertainment is bombarding society with images of these “Mysteries.” As one of the foremost Gnostics of the 20th Century, and founder of the New Age movement, Alice Bailey stated: “There is no question, therefore, that the work to be done in familiarising the general public with the nature of the Mysteries is of paramount importance at this time.” (The Externalisation of the Hierarchy). So whether it’s churches practicing meditation or yoga, children getting into the occult and witchcraft or people singing their love for Judas, the indoctrination is at work.
The Bible’s Warning
The practice of meditation and channeling/communicating with the dead is strictly prohibited in the Bible. 10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD..” (Deuteronomy 18)
God, in His Mercy and Wisdom, knew that these practices can actually work but they are invoking evil spirits and demons. Just as Eve had no idea she was having a conversation with Satan, so to are many deceived into thinking they are speaking to someone from their past, a dead celebrity or even a Biblical figure, whe participating in occult practices such as these.
In fact, the Bible in the book of Colossians, was already rebuking and debunking the early Gnostics. Paul gave a stern warning to the church of Collosae, who was being infiltrated by early Gnostic thought, that put more focus on the human mind and its power and ability for salvation, than God:
“..to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words… 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:.” Paul is clarifying that Jesus Christ is God and we access God, through Him, not through ourselves. The wisdom and knowledge of the world was all found in Jesus Christ, despite the attempts of the Judas video to change that idea.
Gaga’s Chapel
The final scenes of the video take place in the “Electro Chapel.” The entrance has a sun symbol underneath it. This is an example of the subtle work of spiritual infiltration. Sun worship is an important theme in the occult mysteries. It symbolizes Lucifer (Satan) bringing the “divine light” to humanity that allows us to attain godhood. This symbol should never be on a church or in the pagan-infused art that depicts Jesus with the sun behind him.
In the Biblical Gospels there was no ‘hidden knowledge': Jesus instructed His teaching to be shared with every person in every nation on Earth. Christianity is not a secret society or order in any way. And entrance into the family of God cannot be earned (it’s a free gift from The Lord God), which means there is no special hierarchy. Notions that the material world is the only thing holding us back from being “gods” are nothing but “philosophy and vain deceit.”
Who is Judas?

I wanna love you,Gaga’s characterization of Judas as a demon is very telling. While most people know who Judas is from the Bible, there are two lesser-known facts that he shares in common with the Antichrist.
But something’s pulling me away from you
Jesus is my virtue,
Judas is the demon I cling to
I cling to
1) Judas was actually possessed by Satan. When Jesus was asked by His disciples who would betray Him something unprecedented happened: “….Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. … 25 He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? 26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. 27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly”. (John 13).
While there are many people in the Bible who are possessed by demonic spirits, Judas is the only person in the entire Scripture who is possessed by Satan himself. The only other figure who is even said to have Satanic empowerment is the Antichrist.
2) Judas is called “the son of perdition” – When Jesus knew the time of His crucifixion was approaching He prayed for His disciples in one of the most beautiful passages in the Scriptures in John 17. During that prayer, Jesus tells God that He has watched over all of the Disciples who were put in His charge, but makes an exception: 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. (John 17).
Jesus prays in this passage letting God know that He has successfully watched over all of the Disciples, except for the traitor Judas and calls him “the son of perdition.” This again is significant because that is a title again only given to one other person in the Bible: the Antichrist. The Bible clearly prophesies that the Antichrist will come into power and rule the Earth for 3 and 1/2 years, empowered by Satan before Jesus Christ returns and destroys him. But this False Messianic Antichrist is not going to come to power by force or by being a tyrant. He is going to present himself as someone benevolent, peaceful and unifying. Someone who is like Jesus. And a quick way to make this possible is to constantly distort and damage the image of the real Messiah Jesus Christ. The more this is done, the more acceptable an imposter Messiah will be.
So for Lady Gaga to be revering Judas, even in the name of art, at a minimum is blasphemous and is also giving “symbolic” reference to the most evil and sinful of beings, who is empowered by Satan himself. So the “clinging” to this “demon” is setting another anti-Christian tone. And this would not be the first video in which this has happened.
While many videos of Gaga have been filled with occult imagery, the video for Alejandro provided a clear anti-Christian image:
Wearing a mock nun’s suit made of latex with FOUR upside-down crosses on them. Not to mention that she is flashing the infamous Luciferian “all seeing eye” pose. Once again it is pretty blatant what the symbolic message is here. Even for an artist who says she is not trying to send a religious message. (Imagine if she was really trying?)
Conclusion
The Judas video has set a new standard for blasphemy and distorting the Bible and the image of Jesus Christ. It is a part of growing current of entertainment that promotes Biblical heresies to society all in the name of entertainment. But the effects much more lingering after the song ends. The Bible predicted that this type of attack on the faith would occur: 2 Corinthians 11:1 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
The Apostle Paul wrote this passage with fear because he knew that Satan would: 1) use ANY means to beguile and fool people into following him (which would include music, movies, etc.) 2) Belief systems would emerge that would change who Jesus is and what the Gospel of the Bible says and that 3) it would be subtle. And we have seen in society today, that same subtle force moving the standards for morality lower and lower. And as we mentioned above the move against Christianity is in full swing. Mocking, insulting or blasphemous depictions are fair game. Whether you are Christian or not, we should be respectful of the religions and faith of other people. This is a Christian site but we roundly criticized Terry Jones at the point he was even considering burning a Koran (even though it’s his right). Similarly, others should not so strongly mock the Christian faith by blasphemous portrayals of our Savior and God, Jesus Christ. On a deeper level, all people should be wary of the movement taking place in pop culture. The faiths of ancient times are re-emerging and many of these elevate the one figure who is “beyond repentance”: Lucifer. Do not be deceived, symbols and images are more influential and powerful than we know.
True Christianity needs no symbol. It is founded upon Jesus Christ, who is still alive in Heaven. He is not just a highly trained mystic. He is God, The Savior and provides the way for us to go to Heaven. Despite what is said, the Bible has never changed on that point. And He offers free salvation and eternal life to all people, including Lady Gaga. No matter how much someone insults, mocks or changes the image of Jesus, He will still love them and freely offer forgiveness. Let’s pray that is the case here.

Satanic deception : When Muslims start praying and casting out demons like Pentecostals
Comment
In Uganda a Muslim SHEIKH has started praying for Muslims Pentecostal style. He casts out devils by pouring ‘holy water’(ZAM ZAM) on the devil possessed. A number of Muslim faithfuls go to him for counseling about jobs and marital problems and some report positive results . This is one of satan’s tricks aimed at preventing Muslims from leaving Islam . Satan is already using this trick through the so called catholic charismatic renewal in Uganda to prevent the mass exodus of catholics to born again churches.

Ebola creators to reap billions from infecting Africans with Ebola: Be read for mass vaccinations against Ebola in the near future: WHO eyes mass Ebola vaccines by mid-2015: WHO under fire over Ebola response
Hundreds of thousands of Ebola vaccine doses could be rolled out to West Africa by mid-2015, the World Health Organization said Friday, after a new case of the virus was reported in New York and a two-year-old girl died in the first case in Mali.
Two American nurses were declared cured of Ebola and one -- Dallas-based Nina Pham -- hugged President Barack Obama at the White House to prove it.
But the states of New York and New Jersey ordered mandatory quarantine for medics who had treated victims of the disease in West Africa.
Steps include mandatory quarantine 21 days of any individual who has had direct contact with an Ebola patient while in Guinea, Liberia or Sierra Leone, including medics who treated Ebola patients.
The new measures were ordered by state governors Andrew Cuomo and Chris Christie on Friday, the day after an American doctor tested positive for Ebola one week after returning from working in hard-hit Guinea.
Craig Spencer, 33, was in said to be in stable condition in isolation at New York's Bellevue Hospital Center, receiving treatment for the illness which has killed nearly 4,900 people -- most of them in West Africa.
Europe's main stock markets fell on Friday over concerns about New York's first case, in a doctor who tested positive after returning from treating sufferers in Guinea, one of the countries at the epicentre of the world's worst outbreak of the disease.
The search for an effective vaccine to fight the disease took on fresh urgency as the WHO said several hundred thousand doses could be available in the "first half" of 2015.
"All is being put in place to start efficacy tests in the affected countries as early as December," WHO assistant director general Marie-Paule Kieny said.
Kieny's comments came after closed-door talks to try to find a vaccine to beat a disease that has ravaged the west African nations of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
'Real-world' tests
Experts are pinning their hopes on the experimental vaccine rVSV, with doses arriving in Geneva for a new round of trials, and ChAd3, made by Britain's GlaxoSmithKline.
Five other potential vaccines are in the pipeline.
Whichever proves effective in trials, WHO hopes to send huge numbers of doses to Africa for "real-world" tests.
"The pharmaceutical companies developing all these vaccines are committing to ramping up the production capacity to millions of doses to be available in 2015," said Kieny.
There is currently no licensed cure for Ebola, which is transmitted through close contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person or someone who has died from the disease.
New York's mayor said America's biggest city was fully equipped to handle Ebola as authorities moved to shut down fears of the virus spreading.
Spencer became the first American case of the virus outside Texas.
He was rushed to a Manhattan hospital Thursday with fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, a week after returning from treating Ebola sufferers in Guinea with the charity Doctors Without Borders.
His fiancee and two of his friends are in quarantine but appear healthy, officials said.
"There is no cause for alarm," Mayor Bill de Blasio told a news conference. "New Yorkers need to understand the situation is being handled and handled well."
There was better news when Pham -- the first US healthcare worker to contract Ebola -- was declared free of the virus.
"I am on my way back to recovery even as I reflect on how many others have not been so fortunate," Pham said before meeting Obama.
She and her nursing colleague Amber Vinson, who was also given the all-clear, caught the disease while treating a Liberian Ebola sufferer, Thomas Eric Duncan, at a Dallas hospital. He later died.
First death in Mali
But in the West African nation of Mali, a two-year-old girl who recently returned from a trip to neighbouring Guinea with her grandmother died from the virus.
The toddler's condition had shown signs of improvement earlier, but a source in the prime minister's office said she had succumbed to the virus in the western region of Kayes.
The Malian government advised residents to avoid all non-vital travel to affected areas.
The WHO said the Malian authorities were tracing everyone who had contact with the girl and her grandmother and 43 people had been placed under observation.
In Ivory Coast, which has escaped Ebola until now, a desperate search was on for a health worker from Guinea who may have fled across the border after having contact with a patient who died of the disease.
The man had still not been tracked down after 48 hours late Friday.
Meanwhile, European Union leaders agreed to boost aid to combat Ebola in west Africa to one billion euros ($1.3 billion).
African countries have pledged to send more than 1,000 health workers to the most severely-hit countries.
With almost 10,000 people now infected, AU chief Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said the regional bloc was responding to an urgent need for reinforcements.

The disease has killed 4,877 people. Most of the victims died in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Geneva- The World Health Organisation (WHO) is the world’s biggest and most important health body.
There is no question that it has had some major successes: it has ensured that millions of children worldwide are free from polio.
It runs programmes aimed at combating HIV/Aids, malaria and tuberculosis, among others.
It runs programmes aimed at combating HIV/Aids, malaria and tuberculosis, among others.
But when it comes to a sudden new health threat, or a danger in an unexpected region, many say the WHO does not really deliver.
The 2009 swine flu pandemic is, it is claimed, a case in point.
When the first cases of a new flu virus were reported in Mexico City, the WHO had already been preparing for a global influenza pandemic with many experts suggesting it could be as devastating as the post-World War One Spanish flu.
When the first cases of a new flu virus were reported in Mexico City, the WHO had already been preparing for a global influenza pandemic with many experts suggesting it could be as devastating as the post-World War One Spanish flu.
There were reasons for the fears. Medical historians knew that a serious flu pandemic could be expected once in a generation.
Furthermore the H1N1 “bird flu” virus did have a high mortality rate, although it had not shown much ability to spread from human to human.
So by 2009 the WHO had a huge “pandemic preparedness” plan, and when swine flu appeared, it swung into action.
So by 2009 the WHO had a huge “pandemic preparedness” plan, and when swine flu appeared, it swung into action.
A global pandemic was declared and pharmaceutical companies fast-tracked billions of doses of a new vaccine. Many countries diverted their public health budgets to buy a dose for every single member of the population.
The problem was, swine flu was not the major global health threat the WHO had been preparing for.
The problem was, swine flu was not the major global health threat the WHO had been preparing for.
“What we experienced in Mexico City was a very mild flu which did not kill more than usual,” said German epidemiologist Wolfgang Wodarg in 2010.
But the voices raising doubts went largely unheard. The WHO’s pandemic preparedness had been long in the planning and, once up and running, seemed unstoppable.
But the voices raising doubts went largely unheard. The WHO’s pandemic preparedness had been long in the planning and, once up and running, seemed unstoppable.
And the very planning that went into preparing for an influenza pandemic seems to have worked against WHO during West Africa’s Ebola outbreak.
Although a flu pandemic was expected, Ebola was most definitely not expected in Liberia, Guinea or Sierra Leone. The virus had never been seen in West Africa before.
Although a flu pandemic was expected, Ebola was most definitely not expected in Liberia, Guinea or Sierra Leone. The virus had never been seen in West Africa before.
So when the first cases were reported in March there was no big WHO machine ready to roll. West Africa’s Ebola outbreak began in Guinea last December and seems to have gone almost unnoticed for three months.
“Nobody knew that Ebola would be possible in such parts of Africa,” said Dr Isabelle Nuttall, the WHO’s director of global capacities, alert and response.
“The speed of reaction was initially determined by the fact that the disease was not known to occur in this part of Africa,” she added.
“The speed of reaction was initially determined by the fact that the disease was not known to occur in this part of Africa,” she added.
But even if the WHO did not expect Ebola in West Africa, it did receive information, and warnings, from medical experts on the ground.
Medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) said on March 31 that Guinea was facing “an epidemic of a magnitude never before seen in terms of the distribution of cases in the country”.
MSF warned that the geographic spread of the cases indicated the epidemic would be very difficult to contain.
But just one day later, on April 1, the WHO’s senior communications officer, Mr Gregory Hartl, suggested that MSF was scaremongering.
“We need to be very careful about how we characterise something which is up until now an outbreak with sporadic cases. What we are dealing with is an outbreak of limited geographic area and only a few chains of transmission,” she said.
For the following three months, the WHO continued with that interpretation. Meanwhile media attempting to report the obviously spreading epidemic faced major hurdles.
The WHO’s regional headquarters in Africa issued irregular online statements as to new cases and death tolls, which were often not confirmed by WHO headquarters in Geneva for several days.
Calls to communications officers went unanswered, their voicemail boxes were full.
Only in June did the WHO call a meeting of its Global Outbreak Alert committee, and only then, it seems, did WHO Director General Margaret Chan take a long hard look at the situation and said she was “very unhappy” at what she had discovered.
Despite her dissatisfaction, it still took the WHO until August to declare Ebola to be a health emergency.
Today, although Nigeria has just been declared Ebola free, the epidemic is still raging in Guinea, where it began, in Liberia and Sierra Leone.
WHO admits there is no sign it is even close to being brought under control and almost 10 months after it first began this outbreak has claimed at least 4,877 lives - more than three times the death toll from previous outbreaks put together.

There are numerous memorials around Rwanda to those killed in the genocide
Rwanda has suspended BBC broadcasts in the Kinyarwanda language with immediate effect because of a film questioning official accounts of the 1994 genocide.
At least 800,000 ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus died in the genocide.
The BBC has denied that any part of the programme constitutes a "denial of the genocide against the Tutsi".
On Wednesday, Rwandan MPs approved a resolution calling on the government to ban the BBC and to charge the documentary-makers with genocide denial, which is a crime in the country.
Those killed in the genocide are generally believed to be mostly members of the minority ethnic Tutsi group, and Hutus opposed to the mass slaughter.

- 6 April 1994: President Juvenal Habyarimana is killed when his plane was shot down on returning from peace talks with Tutsi RPF rebels
- 7 April: It is not clear who is behind the shooting but it sparks the systematic mass killing of mainly Tutsis by extremist Hutu militia and military elements
- April-July: An estimated 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus are slaughtered
- RPF denies accusations they killed thousands of Hutus as they marched through the country
- July: RPF captures the capital, Kigali
- July: Two million Hutus flee to Zaire, now DR Congo

The programme also included interviews with former aides of RPF leader President Paul Kagame, accusing him of plotting to shoot down the presidential plane - the act seen as triggering the slaughter.
news reports recall how the genocide unfolded
He has consistently denied previous such accusations.Rura said it had established a commission of inquiry to investigate the allegations it had received about the programme, after which further action may be taken.
The cabinet is meeting next week to discuss parliament's recommendations.
The BBC broadcasts affected by the suspension are produced by the BBC Great Lakes service, which was initially set up in the aftermath of the genocide as a lifeline service.
Its first broadcast - BBC Gahuzamiryango, meaning "the unifier of families" - was a 15-minute transmission aimed at bringing together families who had been separated.

After Solomon’s 9-year-old daughter was told she has a disease because she is from Liberia, Solomon shared the incident on Facebook. A day later, Solomon’s niece sneezed in school and was sent home, despite having never traveled to Liberia or interacted with anyone who had visited the country in the past two years.
So Solomon, a TV presenter, decided to take action by publicly addressing misdirected discrimination. In her video, Solomon holds a sign with the campaign’s slogan and talks about her child’s experience, as well as the experiences of many others who have been ostracized.
“I am hurt and upset. We are Liberians, Sierra Leoneans, Guineans, and Nigerians. We live in a region that has been devastated by a deadly disease, but we’re not all infected. It is wrong to stereotype and stigamatize an entire people. Remember, we are human beings.”
Solomon is not the first person to start an internet campaign to change the framing of the Ebola narrative.
Acclaimed actor Jeffrey Wright recently launched the #CrushEbolaNow campaign to counter the perception that the virus is a death sentence. “We could do well focusing on the strengths of the affected regions and not entirely on the weaknesses despite the enormity of the challenges,” he said in an interview with ThinkProgress.
“I found the news narratives disturbing. It didn’t take into account the absence of health infrastructure in these countries. These reports say that the outbreak is a function of the virus when it’s not. The outbreak is a function of economic underdevelopment. I wanted to reframe that narrative and speak closer to the reality that exists there.”

Scientists Fight For Superbug Research As U.S. Pauses Funding:OH! REALLY
Scientists Fight For Superbug Research As U.S. Pauses Funding
An unusual government moratorium aimed at controversial research with high-risk viruses has halted important public health research, scientists told an advisory committee to the federal government on Wednesday.
The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy said Friday that the federal government will, for now, not fund any new research proposals that might make three particular viruses more virulent or contagious. The three viruses are those that give rise to influenza, severe acute respiratory syndrome, and Middle East respiratory syndrome.
The White House also said it would encourage "those currently conducting this type of work — whether federally funded or not — to voluntarily pause their research while risks and benefits are being reassessed."
Some researchers who study these germs say they received "cease-and-desist" letters from their funder, the National Institutes of Health.
The moratorium has hit efforts to develop a small-animal model for MERS, the troubling virus that's recently emerged in the Middle East, says Kanta Subbarao, a biologist who studies influenza, SARS, and MERS at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
She notes that currently scientists have no rodent models to use for testing drugs or other treatments for MERS. Her group developed such a model for SARS by creating a form of the virus that makes mice sicker, and she wants to do the same for MERS.
"This moratorium will stop that research," Subbarao told members of an advisory committee called the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity, at their Wednesday meeting on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Md. "I have concerns about whether that's the wisest thing to do in the face of an ongoing outbreak without a small animal model."
"This is potentially the worst time for this type of pause to occur," agreed Matthew Frieman of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, a MERS researcher who notes that over the last several weeks a dozen more cases of the illness have occurred.
What's more, a flu researcher named Stacey Schultz-Cherry of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital told the committee that her cease-work order from NIH inexplicably told her to stop work on projects that included surveillance of circulating flu viruses. "And that really concerns me from a public health standpoint," she said.
The chair of the NSABB said the committee would relay these issues to higher-ups; oneofficial noted that waivers could be granted under the temporary moratorium.
All of this is the latest twist in a long, stormy debate that began about three years ago, after two teams of government-funded scientists created mutant forms of the bird flu virus H5N1. This type of research has polarized the scientific community, with biologists lining up on opposing sides.
Proponents of so-called "gain-of-function" experiments say the work is vital to understand what these viruses are capable of, because of the risk that they might mutate in the wild and cause a natural pandemic.
Critics say the experiments effectively create super-germs that could wreak havoc and potentially kill millions of people if they got out of the lab.
In January of 2012, flu researchers voluntarily agreed to a moratorium that ended up lasting about a year. The government adopted new policies to give certain high-risk flu experiments extra oversight.
But then came the recent lab accidents at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that involved anthrax and a deadly flu virus.
Suddenly government officials worried about lab safety and decided they had to temporarily stop research that could create more dangerous pathogens, as they began a year-long public process to look at the risks and benefits.
The NSABB will be weighing in, as will the prestigious National Research Council. The government will also be hiring outside experts to do risk analyses.
The final goal is a new policy to guide decisions about what should get funded.
"I think the moratorium is long over-due," says epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch of the Harvard School of Public Health. "I would have preferred to have the risks and benefits weighed before these experiments started. But I think it's very important that we pause now and evaluate them in light of the increased concern over laboratory safety and the possibility of an accident that could lead to a pandemic."
Lipsitch notes that the issue is not work with dangerous pathogens in general, but rather research that could create novel, virulent, and transmissible agents that might spark a pandemic in people.
"I was pleased to see the pause announced," says Dr. Thomas Inglesby, director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Center for Health Security. "I agree that risk assessment of this work is needed. I think the risks are potentially extraordinary."
But others say they think halting this research is counterproductive. "I'm disappointed. I think it is a knee-jerk reaction to a very complex problem," says Dr. Arturo Casadevall, a microbiologist at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Virologist Paul Duprex of Boston University also opposes the ban. "People don't completely understand what is allowed and what is not allowed," he notes.
But Duprex thinks starting this deliberative process is reasonable. "They have outlined a time-restricted process for consultation," he says. "That's good for the people who are vested in the experiments because they at least know there is a process which is not open-ended."
After all, the flu research community has already gone through one year-long pause.
"After the voluntary moratorium on H5N1 transmission studies, new regulations and policies were issued," flu researcher Yoshihiro Kawaoka of the University of Wisconsin-Madison noted in an email. "I do not know what else is needed. We will never be able to satisfy critics who call for 'zero risk.'"
He had government approval for additional H5N1 transmission studies, but says they will now be paused. "There are other projects for which we need guidance from NIH to determine whether they are subject to the pause," Kawaoka wrote, adding that continued pauses to influenza virus research will delay progress in science and have long-term effects on public health such as slowing improvements in vaccines and antivirals.

Thou shall not kill: The sad story of the hangman of Luzira Prisons
I am the hangman of Luzira Prisons
Publish Date: Oct 21, 2014

To hear that someone has been sentenced to death is disturbing, so naturally one wonders what goes on in the mind of the person who actually executes the death sentence.
To answer this question, I set out to find the hangman. After weeks of making contact through a go between, I finally convinced him to meet me.
He does not want his identity disclosed, so we shall call him Michael.
Tall, dark-skinned and bearded, Michael’s physique is imposing, but as you interact with him, he strikes you as a regular gentleman who would never kill anyone.
This is probably why most people who know him have no idea what he does for a living.
“People may have a negative attitude if they get to know what I do. Nobody wants to be friends with a hangman,” he says.
But in the gallows, the 55-yearold executes his duties with utmost precision.
With over 100 executions in his career, the 55-year-old says he has mastered the art of killing without causing pain.
He trained in China.
“A person I hang never kicks around while dying. He dies immediately with almost no discomfort. The art lies in how you tie the knot that crushes the neck.
Not everybody can do that,” he explains.
He confesses that ending someone’s life is not a laughing matter. His most traumatizing execution was when he hanged two brothers who were convicted of murder.
“It takes exceptional courage to walk an inmate to the death chambers. Once, an aggressive inmate hit me hard. If it were not for the cuffs placed on his hands and legs, he would have killed me,” he recalls.
When it is time
Often, the executioner will know about the task to be performed a month in advance. Before explaining the procedure, Michael warned me that what I was about to hear might be disturbing, but I insisted on hearing it all the same.
He began by explaining that normally, the death row inmate will know about his fate when he is handcuffed and taken out of his cell with full escort to meet the Officer in Charge (OC).
The family will have been invited to meet him and pray with him for the last time. This meeting takes place in the OC’s office.
The convict is given an opportunity to choose his last meal, which is then prepared and served to him before execution.
Professional
The execution team then heads to the death chambers. They spend some time getting the facilities ready because there is no room for error.
According to Micheal, the hanging is carried out when all parties that include the OC of the condemned section, the clergy and the prisons director of medical services are contented with the inmate’s health on the appointed day.
He says prior to execution, the prisoner’s neck and body measurements are taken because the ropes need to be of the right strength and the drop needs to be worked out in relation to the individual’s weight and height.
In the death chamber, the prisoner may stand or be seated on a death chair depending on whether he is cooperative or aggressive.
The legs and hands are tied and a black hood placed over the head so that the prisoner does not see the execution team.
“A noose is then placed around his neck, after which, upon a prisons warder’s command, the hangman presses a button and a machine pulls the ropes to squeeze the prisoner’s neck.”
“The alternative is to release the prisoner through a hole so that his own weight pulls the rope and squeezes the neck.
Either way, death is either brought about by damage to the spinal cord or by suffocation caused by constriction of the trachea,” he explains.
He adds that after the prisoner’s body drops, the officers, priests and medical personnel proceed to the bottom of the gallows to certify the death.
When there are mistakes Micheal says in the event that the prisoner is not dead, they are hit hard at the back of the head with a hammer or a crow-bar.
The body is then quickly placed in a coffin, sprayed with acid and buried in an unmarked grave within the prison cemetery.
It is this process that human rights activists are opposed to.
For the last 12 years, on October 10 of every year, they have commemorated World Day Against the Death Penalty.
As a result of the campaign, 139 countries, including 13 in Africa, have abolished the death penalty.
The death sentence in Uganda Uganda still retains the death penalty although no execution has been carried out since 1999, when Haji Mustapha Sebirumbi was sent to the gallows.
For an execution to be carried out, the President has to sign a warrant first.
Presently, Uganda’s prisons accommodate 393 inmates on death row.
Of these, 357 are male while 36 are female.
Commissioner General’s stand on the death penalty
Dr. Johnson Byabashaija, the Commissioner General of Prisons, has frequently expressed his stand against the death sentence because he is of the view that it is cruel, inhuman and degrading.
“Death is something which every one of us will meet so by executing a person, you will have not punished them,” Byabashaija argues.
He adds that the main objective of Uganda Prison Services is to correct offenders, yet execution does not correct lawbreakers.
“And it has not been proved that the death penalty deters people from continuing to commit those crimes,” he says.
He, however, says since the law still provides for the death penalty, and judges have continued to sentence people to death.
The prisons authorities would have no choice but to hang a prisoner if an order comes through.
The hanging facilities are still in good working condition. The executioner and his two assistants are still on the pay roll.
“We perform the duty as directed by our superiors,” Byabashaija says.
Recalling Saddam Hussein, Byabashaija says some inmates on death row at Luzira spent up to three days without eating when they watched the former Iraqi leader’s execution on television.
Asked about the criteria followed while recruiting hangmen, Byabashaija says Uganda Prison Services advertises for the posts.
The last recruitment was in the late 1980s.

Edward Mpagi was on death row for 18 years for a crime he did not commit. Mpagi is a good example of how
wrong the death penalty can be
Warder’s experience
A warder who was once in charge of the condemned section, says he watched one prisoner being executed in Luzira and could not sleep for two days.
He says over 20 years, he still gets nightmares.
“The images of that execution haunt me to date and I am now convinced that they shall haunt me
Innocent
The warder says he felt bad every time an inmate was executed. Yet, some prisoners are sentenced to death for no crime.
A case in point is Edward Mpagi, 60, who was declared guilty of murder and sentenced to death in 1982, then the person he supposedly killed reappeared years later.
He spent 18 years on death row before he was released, by which time his property had been snatched by his enemies.
During this period, 52 of his wardmates were executed, often in batches of 10.
Each time, the prisoners would cry as they were being taken out. Amid sobs, some would say “I am going. I am going to meet my Lord.”
Then some of their remaining colleagues would sob. After being walked out of the ward, some of the prisoners would sing religious songs as they were being led to the gallows.
The death chamber was above the ward, so the remaining prisoners would hear the sound of their colleagues’ bodies with a thud during execution.
Finally, they would hear the sound of nails being knocked into coffins.
They would then go through days of grief, not knowing who among them would be next.
In mates on death row speak out
Amos Olweny has been in the condemned section of Luzira’s Maximum Security prison for 28 years.
“I and my fellow death row inmates live in constant fear of imminent execution,” he says.
Olweny says those on death row are kept separated from other inmates, which adds to their anxiety.
“The condemn section is an extremely intimidating structure.
The walls are high and all around us. They are painted a dull, harsh white colour.
The living conditions are extremely depressing. The lights in the cells are left on throughout the night, making it difficult for us to sleep properly.
With the overcrowded cells, there is barely enough room to move a round,” he says.
“As death row inmates, we do not know when they are coming for us.
The practice of being left in suspense adds to our constant fear, mental anguish and torture.
For that reason the prisoner is kept in a dehumanising environment from the moment he enters the cells,” Olweny explains.
Why I am for the death penalty
Samuel Musimenta, child rights activist
The death penalty should be retained because it will deter the would be perpetrators of crimes related to murder. Let it be an eye for an eye.
For example, why should a person who admits to killing a child for ritual sacrifice live?
Such people should not even be kept in prison, they should be executed the day court finds them guilty.

Kigula being congratulated by the principle judge Yorokamu Bamwine and prison’s boss Byabashaijja on her graduation day
Babra Nassimbwa a paediatric surgeon
The death penalty should be retained so that serial killers can face justice.
Given the nature of the crimes, they do not deserve to live. In fact, tax payers’ money should not be wasted on feeding prisoners, especially those sentenced to death because they do not add any value to our economy.
Why I am not for the death penalty
Francis Suubi the executive director Wells of Hope Ministries
The death sentence should be abolished because many children have ended up on the streets after the bread winner is sentenced to death.
When a parent is condemned to death, his children suffer for a crime they did not commit.
Prisoners’ children are rotting in villages and majority of them are not able to go to school.
Martha Ngabirano, a teacher
The death penalty should be removed.
Even if the murderers acted against the law, no one has a right to terminate another person’s life.
Vengeance should not be ours. Death row inmates should be given a second chance in life because people are taken to prison to reform. How then will an executed person reform if all you want to do is kill them? What is the point of prison being a correctional institution?
Susan Kigula’s remarkable story
On July 9, 2009, Susan Kigula was arrested and remanded to Luzira Prison for killing her husband David Sseremba.
In September 2002, court found her guilty of the offence and sentenced her to death by hanging.
A young woman, who had a whole life ahead of her, dreams unaccomplished, promises waiting to be fulfilled was set to die.
“Hanging a person is not a deterrent since everyone deserves a second chance to live. That is why I petitioned against the death penalty,” says Kigula.
This move made Susan the leading figure in the landmark case, Susan Kigula and 417 death row inmates’ vs. Attorney General, in an attempt to have capital punishment declared unconstitutional and abolished in Uganda.
On January 21, 2009, the Supreme Court of Uganda reached a decision, Susan and the others lost: the court saw no basis to outlaw the death penalty.
In addition, it ruled that no sufficient evidence was brought to show that being hanged caused more pain and suffering to the person being executed than any other manner of execution.
What could be more disappointing and troubling for anyone? Although Susan’s petition was refused, with it sprung several court rulings which would eventually become precedents in the criminal laws of Uganda.
First, the court ruled that the death sentence should no longer be mandatory because it would only tie the hands of the court and prevent it from taking into consideration the specific circumstances of each case.
It also ruled that the State cannot torture condemned prisoners by keeping them on death row for years; therefore, where a death penalty cannot be executed within three years, it must be commuted to life imprisonment.
Thus, Kigula, who had spent nine years in prison, escaped the hangman’s noose and started a new life.
In November 2011, in a remarkable High Court session, Susan Kigula’s sentence was reduced to 20 years.
Today, Kigula holds a diploma in legal studies, which she did through the prisons education system. She now runs a legal clinic for other inmates.
Since these court rulings in 2009, a number of prisoners have been released and approximately 180 death sentences have been converted to life sentences.

U.S. is Responsible for the Ebola Outbreak in West Africa: Liberian Scientist
U.S. is Responsible for the Ebola Outbreak in West Africa: Liberian Scientist

Dr. Cyril Broderick, A Liberian scientist and a former professor of Plant Pathology at the University of Liberia’s College of Agriculture and Forestry says the West, particularly the U.S. is responsible for the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Dr. Broderick claims the following in an exclusive article published in the Daily Observer based in Monrovia, Liberia. He wrote the following:
The US Department of Defense (DoD) is funding Ebola trials on humans, trials which started just weeks before the Ebola outbreak in Guinea and Sierra Leone. The reports continue and state that the DoD gave a contract worth $140 million dollars to Tekmira, a Canadian pharmaceutical company, to conduct Ebola research. This research work involved injecting and infusing healthy humans with the deadly Ebola virus. Hence, the DoD is listed as a collaborator in a “First in Human” Ebola clinical trial (NCT02041715, which started in January 2014 shortly before an Ebola epidemic was declared in West Africa in March. Is it possible that the United States Department of Defense (DOD) and other Western countries are directly responsible for infecting Africans with the Ebola virus? Dr. Broderick claims that the U.S. government has a research laboratory located in a town called Kenema in Sierra Leone that studies what he calls “viral fever bioterrorism”, It is also the town where he acknowledges that is the “epicentre of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.” Is it a fact? Is Dr. Broderick a conspiracy theorist? He says that “there is urgent need for affirmative action in protecting the less affluent of poorer countries, especially African citizens, whose countries are not as scientifically and industrially endowed as the United States and most Western countries, sources of most viral or bacterial GMOs that are strategically designed as biological weapons.” He also asks an important question when he says “It is most disturbing that the U. S. Government has been operating a viral hemorrhagic fever bioterrorism research laboratory in Sierra Leone. Are there others?”
Well, Mr. Broderick’s claims seem to be true. After all, the U.S. government has been experimenting with deadly diseases on human beings for a long time, history tells us so. One example is Guatemala. Between 1946 and 1948, the United States government under President Harry S. Truman in collaboration with Guatemalan President Juan José Arévalo and his health officials deliberately infected more than 1500 soldiers, prostitutes, prisoners and even mental patients with syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and chancroid (a bacterial sexual infection) out of more than 5500 Guatemalan people who participated in the experiments. The worst part of it is that none of the test subjects infected with the diseases ever gave informed consent. The Boston Globe published the discovery made by Medical historian and professor at Wellesley College, Susan M. Reverby in 2010 called ‘Wellesley professor unearths a horror: Syphilis experiments in Guatemala.’ It stated how she came across her discovery:
Picking through musty files in a Pennsylvania archive, a Wellesley College professor made a heart-stopping discovery: US government scientists in the 1940s deliberately infected hundreds of Guatemalans with syphilis and gonorrhea in experiments conducted without the subjects’ permission. Medical historian Susan M. Reverby happened upon the documents four or five years ago while researching the infamous Tuskegee syphilis study and later shared her findings with US government officials. After Reverby’s discovery, the Obama administration apparently gave an apology to then-President Alvaro Colom according to the Boston Globe:
The unethical research was not publicly disclosed until yesterday, when President Obama and two Cabinet secretaries apologized to Guatemala’s government and people and pledged to never repeat the mistakes of the past — an era when it was not uncommon for doctors to experiment on patients without their consent.
Yesterday, Obama called President Álvaro Colom Caballeros of Guatemala to apologize, and Obama’s spokesman told reporters the experiment was “tragic, and the United States by all means apologizes to all those who were impacted by this.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton had called Colom Thursday night to break the news to him. In her conversation with the Guatemalan president, Clinton expressed “her personal outrage and deep regret that such reprehensible research could occur,’’ said Arturo Valenzuela, assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere affairs.

The Commission said some 5,500 Guatemalans were involved in all the research that took place between 1946 and 1948. Of these, some 1,300 were deliberately infected with syphilis, gonorrhoea or another sexually transmitted disease, chancroid. And of that group only about 700 received some sort of treatment. According to documents the commission had studied, at least 83 of the 5,500 subjects had died by the end of 1953.Washington’s reaction to the report is a farce. The apology made to Guatemala’s government was for the sake of public relations. Washington knows about its human experimentations in the past with deadly diseases conducted by government-funded laboratories that are known to be harmful to the public. The U.S. government is guilty in conducting numerous medical experiments on people not only in Guatemala but in other countries and on its own territory. As the Boston Globe report mentioned, the Tuskegee Syphilis Study occurred between 1932 and 1972 by the U.S. Public Health Service to study the “natural progression” of untreated syphilis in the African American population. The U.S. Public Health Service and the Tuskegee Institute collaborated in 1932 and enrolled 600 poor sharecroppers from Macon County, Alabama to study the syphilis infection. However, it was documented that at least 400 of those had the disease (they were never informed that they actually had syphilis) while the remaining 200 did not. They received free medical care, food and even free burial insurance for participating in the study. Documents revealed that they were told that they had “bad blood” which meant that they had various medical conditions besides syphilis. The Tuskegee scientists continued to study the participants without treating their illnesses and they also withheld much-needed information from the participants about penicillin, which proved to be effective in treating Syphilis and other venereal diseases. The test subjects were under the impression that they were receiving free health care from the U.S. government while they were deliberately being lied to by the same administrators who were conducting the tests. Washington is fully aware of its human experimentations with deadly diseases. The government of Guatemala also knew about the Syphilis experiments according to the Boston Globe:
A representative of the Guatemalan government said his nation will investigate, too — looking in part at the culpability of officials in that country. The records of the experiment suggest that Guatemalan government officials were fully aware of the tests, sanctioned them, and may have done so in exchange for stockpiles of penicillin. However, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services published the study ‘Fact Sheet on the 1946-1948 U.S. Public Health Service Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) Inoculation Study’ and was forced to admit what happened in Guatemala during the syphilis experiments:
While conducting historical research on the Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis, Professor Susan Reverby of Wellesley College recently discovered the archived papers of the late Dr. John Cutler, a U.S. Public Health Service medical officer and a Tuskegee investigator. The papers described another unethical study supported by the U.S. government in which highly vulnerable populations in Guatemala were intentionally infected with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The study, conducted between 1946 and 1948, was done with the knowledge of Dr. Cutler’s superiors and was funded by a grant from the U.S. National Institutes of Health to the Pan American Sanitary Bureau (which became the Pan American Health Organization) to several Guatemalan government ministries. The study had never been published. The U.S. government admitted to its wrongdoing, 62 years too late. What Dr. Broderick wrote is not conspiratorial in any sense. The U.S. government has been involved in bioterrorism; Guatemala is a case in point. Dr. Broderick summarized what average people can do to prevent governments, especially those from the West from creating and exposing populations from diseases they experiment with in laboratories:
The challenge is global, and we request assistance from everywhere, including China, Japan, Australia, India, Germany, Italy, and even kind-hearted people in the U.S., France, the U.K., Russia, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and anywhere else whose desire is to help. The situation is bleaker than we on the outside can imagine, and we must provide assistance however we can. To ensure a future that has less of this kind of drama, it is important that we now demand that our leaders and governments be honest, transparent, fair, and productively engaged. They must answer to the people. Please stand up to stop Ebola testing and the spread of this dastardly disease. After Guatemala’s ordeal with the U.S. government who deliberately infected people with syphilis, West African nations should be extremely skeptical about the U.S. government’s actions combating Ebola. Professor Francis Boyle of the University of Illinois, College of Law questions the Obama administration’s actions in West Africa. RIA Novosti recently interviewed Boyle and he said the following:
US government agencies have a long history of carrying out allegedly defensive biological warfare research at labs in Liberia and Sierra Leone. This includes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is now the point agency for managing the Ebola spill-over into the US,” Prof. Francis Boyle said. That’s a good question for Washington, but would the public get any answers? Not anytime soon, since it took more than 62 years for the Guatemala syphilis experiments to be exposed to the public, not by the US government, by a medical historian.
Why has the Obama administration dispatched troops to Liberia when they have no training to provide medical treatment to dying Africans? How did Zaire/Ebola get to West Africa from about 3,500km away from where it was first identified in 1976?”

The Ebola Breakout Coincided With UN Vaccine Campaigns
The Ebola Breakout Coincided With UN Vaccine Campaigns
Published August 18, 2014, filed under GOVERNMENT

The ebola pandemic began in late February in the former French colony of Guinea while UN agencies were conducting nationwide vaccine campaigns for three other diseases in rural districts. The simultaneous eruptions of this filovirus virus in widely separated zones strongly suggests that the virulent Zaire ebola strain (ZEBOV) was deliberately introduced to test an antidote in secret trials on unsuspecting humans.
The cross-border escape of ebola into neighboring Sierra Leone and Liberia indicates something went terribly wrong during the illegal clinical trials by a major pharmaceutical company. Through the lens darkly, the release of ebola may well have been an act of biowarfare in the post-colonial struggle to control mineral-rich West Africa
Earlier this year, rural residents eagerly stood in line to receive vaccinations from foreign-funded medical programs. Since the cover-up of the initial outbreak, however, panicked West Africans rural folk are terrified of any treatment from international aid programs for fear of a rumored genocide campaign. The mass hysteria is also fueled in a region traditionally targeted by Western pedophiles by the fact that filovirus survives longer in semen than in other body fluids, a point that resulted in murderous attacks on young men believed to be homosexuals. Ebola detonated fear and loathing, and perhaps that is exactly the intended objective of a destabilization strategy.
This ongoing series of investigative journalism reports on the ebola crisis exposes how West Africans are largely justified in their distrust of the Western aid agencies that unleashed, whether by mistake or deliberate intent, the most virulent virus known to man.

Guilt Without Doubt
A pair of earlier articles by this writer examined the British and American roles in developing ebola into a biological weapon and its antidotes into commercial products. This third essay examines the strange coincidence of the earliest breakout in Guinea with three major vaccine campaigns conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN children’s agency UNICEF. At least two of the vaccination programs were implemented by Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF, or Doctors Without Borders), while some of those vaccines were produced by Sanofi Pasteur, a French pharmaceutical whose major shareholder is the Rothschild Group. This report uncovers the French connection to the African ebola pandemic.
Human Guinea Pigs
The guinea pig used in laboratory testing of new drugs is neither a pig nor from Guinea, since its natural habitat is on another continent, specifically the Andes. The test subjects at the time of the very first ebola outbreaks in Guinea were not rodents or pigs; they were humans.
The mystery at the heart of the ebola outbreak is how the 1995 Zaire (ZEBOV) strain, which originated in Central Africa some 4,000 km to the east in Congolese (Zairean) provinces of Central Africa, managed to suddenly resurface now a decade later in Guinea, West Africa. Since no evidence of ebola infections in transit has been detected at airports, ports or highways, the initial infections must have come from one of either two alternative routes:
- First, the possibility of an anonymous “Patient A”, a survivor of the devastating 1995 Zaire pandemic, perhaps a doctor or medical worker who was a carrier of the dormant virus into Guinea. An example of a Patient A is Patrick Sawyer, the infected American resident of Liberia who first transmitted ebola to Nigeria. No attempt has been made by the national health ministry or international agencies to trace and identify the original ebola case in Guinea. So far, not a shred of evidence has surfaced to indicate&nbs p;the very first victim to be a foreigner or a Guinean who had traveled abroad.
- Second, the absence of a Patient A leaves the prospect of an unauthorized test in humans of a new antidote for ebola in rural Guinea, done under the cover of a vaccination program for another disease. Whether the covert clinical trial’s purpose was civilian health or military use of an antibody-based antidote cannot be determined as of yet.
The reason for suspecting a vaccine campaign rather than an individual carrier is due to the fact that the ebola contagion did not start at a single geographic center and then spread outward along the roads. Instead. simultaneous outbreaks of multiple cases occurred in widely separated parts of rural Guinea, indicating a highly organized effort to infect residents in different locations in the same time-frame.
The ebola outbreak in early March coincided with three separate vaccination campaigns countrywide: a cholera oral vaccine effort by Medicins Sans Frontieres under the WHO; and UNICEF-funded prevention programs against meningitis and polio:
- The MSF-WHO project administered the anti-cholera vaccine Shanchol. The drug producer Shanta Biotechnics in Hyderabad, India, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sanofi Pasteur based in Lyon, France. Formerly known as Sanofi Aventis, the pharmaceutical controlled by major shareholders L’Oreal and the Rothschild Group.
- The oral polio vaccine (OPV) drive funded by UNICEF was based on a pathogen seed strain developed by Sanofi Pasteur, which operates the world’s largest polio vaccine production facility.
- The meningitis vaccine MenAfrVac, was produced by the Serum Institute of India, owned by tycoon Cyrus Poonawalla, under development funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2013, a UNICEF drive in Chad with the same drug resulted in 40 child deaths from vaccine-linked symptom. MSF participated in the West African anti-meningitis project.
Medicins Sanofi Frontieres
While focused on the French role, it would be unjust not to shed light on the American chief of the UN children’s agency. UNICEF executive directory Anthony Lake has an ideal career background for the post of protector of children worldwide. Tony Lake was National Security Advisor to President Bill Clinton responsible for US military interventions, including: the Bosnia-Herzegovina war against the Yugoslav federation; the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia better known as “Blackhawk Down”; and Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti. An ardent& nbsp;Zionist convert to Judaism, he is the perfect boss to dispense risky vaccines in Muslim-majority Guinea.
One of Lake’s closest international allies during the Balkans war, who shares his policy of “expansionist democracy” and “humanitarian intervention” is French-Jewish hero Bernard Kouchner. The co-founder of Medicins Sans Frontier, the leftist politician-doctor was appointed Foreign Minister under neoconservative President Nicholas Sarkozy. Before succumbing to the temptation of shouting “Physician heal thyself!”, let’s turn back to tracking ebola.
MSF, which translates into English as Doctors Without Borders, promotes itself as a brave band of selfless physicians who spend their time and own savings on helping the poor in global hot spots. Many of the volunteers, to their individual credit and moral goodness, actually exemplify the public-relations image, never realizing that MSF corporate sponsors include the Bill Gates-founded behemoth Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, AIG, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, BlackRock, Bloomberg and the French advertising giant Havas.
A rogue’s gallery of corporate predators, if ever there was, the donor list is notably absent of major pharmaceuticals, since it would be a conflict of interest to charitably dispense vaccines from a drug company while being paid for the free advertising. To avoid appearances of ethical impropriety on a global scale, the UN through its agencies WHO and UNICEF foots the bill, the major pharms get the profits, and MSF executives with their horde of bright-eyed volunteers dispense the low-end vaccines on the suffering masses.
Not to discourage idealist doctors from a worthy cause, there is the undeniable attraction of safari fever and Orientalist exoticism for a surgeon from Pittsburg or Strasbourg to take part in this hybrid of “Amazing Race” and Club Med. Now off with the kid gloves: While posturing as principled ethical “witnesses” to human misery, the functional role of MSF role is as a conveyor belt dumping vaccines from major pharmaceuticals onto low-income and poorly educated populations of the developing world.
Repeated dosages of potent toxins on populations with poor health, which no public-health agency in the Western world dares attempt inside its own borders, can have harmful side effects, especially on children. The casualties of vaccination have gone unreported by the media and buried under official cover-ups. Even worse, vaccine programs could well have been used to conceal human testing of antibodies that originated in biological warfare labs for the purpose of mass murder of entire nations.
Best Laid Plans
Doctors Without Frontiers (MSF), once based in Paris and now in Geneva, comes under a dark cloud of suspicion because its distribution of a two-step anti-cholera vaccine. The dosages must be taken a fortnight apart, and this repeat procedure likely provided the pretext for an ebola-testing team to insert the ebola virus into the victims’ bodies and later return to dispense the antidote of monoclonal antibodies (Mab).
(This is not to say that MSF was knowingly involved as an organization but that its “federation” style of management leaves a lot of maneuvering space for an unethical doctor to infiltrate a country program on behalf a client pharmaceutical.)
After exposure to the ebola virus, a patient shows symptoms of high fever, vomiting and diarrhea, no less than 8 days later and likelier after two weeks. Re-arriving on schedule, the covert drug-testing team administers the anti-ebola antibodies as “the second dose of cholera vaccine”. The perfect crime of illegal human testing should have gone off without a hitch.
A problem arises, however, when many of the test subjects fall sick in less than two weeks and are unable to walk dozens of kilometers to the vaccine centers. With much of the original cohort of human test subjects absent for the antidote, and ebola out of control in the hinterland, the secret clinical trial free-falls toward a pit of liability and legal action. Disappointed operations managers for the sponsoring pharmaceutical order the exfiltration of their medical agents out of Guinea, leaving hundreds of victims to die in excruciating pain as the contagion spreads. Does anyone in Paris or Geneva really care? Don’t choke in laughter.
The Guinea outbreak was not reported by WHO until 6 weeks after the initial round of infections in February, which is quite odd considering the armies of medical workers afield in the countryside during those three vaccine campaigns. By contrast, the MSF office in next-door Senegal knew about the Guinean ebola contagion less than a month after outbreak.
Inside and Outside the Death Zones
On the map of Africa, the Republic of Guinea (not to be confused with Equatorial Guinea on the coast of Central Africa) is shaped like a reversed letter C, looping off the Atlantic shore and curving southeast into the interior. The Niger River cuts across the country from east to west; two separate regions along its banks were the centers of the initial ebola outbreak.
The earliest infections were concentrated in the inland prefectures of Guecedo and Macenta on the interior borders of Sierra Leone and Liberia. The second-most affected region was closer to the Atlantic coast in the districts of Boffa and Telimele and the nearby island-capital of Conakry. The deaths in Conakry were concentrated at Donka Hospital, the prime treatment center.
What is striking about the Red Cross-Red Crescent Society map of the outbreak zones was the lack of infections over a wide swath along the border with Senegal, where MSF keeps its regional headquarters with a 300-member staff, which includes 80 foreigners. The reason can be attributed to the drier climate of Senegal, yet to the contrary ebola infections were reported near Guinea’s northern border with arid Mali, which is in the Sahara Desert.
On first reports of the outbreak, the Pasteur Institute branch in Dakar, Senegal, dispatched a mobile microbiology laboratory to Conakry at the request of the Guinean Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, the German-funded Bernhard-Nocht Institute of Tropical Medicine office in Ghana cooperated with WHO to set up a mobile lab in Gueckedou Prefecture.
MSF staffers inside Guinea cooperated with the government’s Ministry of Health effort to set up isolation rooms in local clinics and hospitals along with blood-sample collection centers. Despite assurances from WHO and CDC that ebola is not transmitted through water or air, more than 100 nurses and doctors, including Sierra Leone’s top ebola expert, have died so far. Misinformation about ebola transmission is inexcusable when the 1995 Zaire outbreak was first spread by the washing of corpses.
Turning Panic Into Profit
Another appalling surprise came in June with the “second wave” of apparently more virulent ebola infections across Sierra Leone, even after the pandemic was coming under control in Guinea. This second breakout could be related to a mutation caused by the introduction of monoclonal antibodies during the covert antidote tests. Confronted by Mab-activated immune responses in humans, the virus could be expected to adapt by increasing the velocity of its docking with unprotected human blood cells. If mutation is confirmed, then all Mab-based&n bsp;serums should be banned due to the potential emergence of the unstoppable “super-virus”, a modified strain of ebola on steroids.
News media have focused on two potential cures for ebola issued by biotech companies ZMapp and Tekmira, both of them essentially business fronts for patent-sharing consortia. Whichever company gains approval from an FDA, ready to overlook the possibility of driving mutations, will be sure to win huge supplier contracts from the WHO and the US Department of Defense.
The dark horse in the foot race to profit from the ebola panic is France-based Sanofi Pasteur. The world’s third-largest pharmaceutical, under CEO Serge Weinberg, has earned a reputation for come-from-behind success in the final rounds of clinical trials in humans. Weinberg scored a coup in wooing his new chief scientist Gary Nabel from his position as head of viral immunology research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The Sanofi strategy for ebola is being kept under wraps by its biotech partner Sutro Biopharma based in San Francisco. Sutro managing director John Freund, MD, is a former Morgan Stanley executive who built its health-care portfolio. The Sutro-Sanofi-Nabel monoclonal antibody (Mab) strategy, using tumor antigen Mabs, is listed for purposes “undisclosed”. The use of antibodies from abnormal or cancerous cells is the same as the cell-fusion method used by their now better-known competitor ZMapp.
For the unethical executive, it is tempting to conduct drug tests in humans without wasting years on monkey trials, as was done by wartime Japan’s Unit 731 and by Dr. Joseph Mengele. In 2008, Sanofi was accused of conducting secret trials of an untested H5N1 vaccine on 350 homeless people in Poland, killing at least 21 and causing the hospitalization of 200 others, according to the Telegraph of London.
The cold-blooded spread of a hemorrhagic fever cannot be attributed solely to corporate greed, since biodefense security is also a motive. The West African outbreak was likely linked to a dual-use experiment, for application in tropical health and as a biowarfare shield, as shown in the two earlier essays in this series.
On the List of Suspects
While a signatory of the Biological Weapons Convention, France did not sign aboard until 1984, providing sufficient time to guise its biowarfare research under civilian lab coats. The nation that produced brilliant scientists like Louis Pasteur, the pioneer discoverer of vaccines, France was one of the leading research centers in biological warfare, weaponizing anthrax, salmonella, chorela and rindepest, toxins that resonate with the French passion for cuisine.
The postwar French military had none of the ability to commandeer Germany’s formidable bioweapons technology, as did Britain, the US and Soviet Union. Instead of focusing on the German passion for “germ” warfare, French medical researchers skipped ahead by concentrating on molecular biology, in which viruses are of intense interest for their interactions with the proteins in cell membranes and nucleic acids. Due to their high-tech sophistication, it is rare for French research centers to be caught red-handed, as happened when the Pasteu r Institute in Iran was discovered to be crafting aflatoxin for the Shah’s military.
French biologists moreover have had deep experience in tropical pathogens from their own African colonies and the Belgian Congo. The nation’s most notable achievement in recent years was Luc Montagnier’s isolation of the HIV, which notably he claims was not of African origin, indicating the Pasteur Institute’s vast library of biological agents.
The French are masters of ambiguity and dissimulation, and so there is no chance for a French military attache to be seen strutting around Guinea or Sierra Leone like a Jean Reno. The CDC in Liberia, in contrast, with its 50-member forward squad marching in protective gear stands out like a sore thumb.
Therefore, don’t forget to put the Elysee Palace on the suspect list if ebola is found out to be a biowarfare attack to destabilize West Africa and redraw the geopolitical boundaries. The French Army is largest foreign force on the continent. To borrow Churchill’s metaphor of nesting dolls, antibodies are a riddle wrapped in the mystery of ebola inside an enigma of biological warfare.
The other Sanofi project in Guinea involving a polio vaccine campaign could have enabled the follow-up work of checking on the success rate of the secret antibody tests. If so, it was a miserable failure or perhaps a wild success. In either case, the pharmaceutical and biotech industries will have profited handsomely from the ebola crisis when biodefense-research generals, high civil servants and UN bureaucrats sheepishly sign multimillion-euro R&D contracts.
Feverish Africa
After rural West Africans realized that vaccination programs coincided with the outbreak of Zaire ebola, foreign-funded medical staffers were assaulted by angry mobs and an ebola treatment center in Sierra Leone was burned to the ground. When medicine is exposed to be the problem and not a solution, the military has to be called in to quell public rebellion. The boundaries of every country in the region are now sealed by troops, and so the truth behind this epidemic will probably be buried with the victims.
As for MSF, UNICEF, WHO, CDC, NIH, USAMRIID and the rest of the alphabet soup of the hypocritical oafs of pharmaco-witchcraft, the herd instinct for self-preservation prevents any honest disclosure. As each day passes and casualties mount, the onus for the crime weighs heavier. A trustworthy investigation into this fast-spreading pandemic and prosecution of the perpetrators in a court of law have all the chances of snowfall in Zaire.

Is The US Government The Master Criminal Of Our Time?
Is The US Government The Master Criminal Of Our Time?
Is The US Government The Master Criminal Of Our Time?
UPDATE: As I read this notice from ClinicalTrials.gov, a service of the US National Institutes of Health, the US Government and Pharmaceutical corporations have been conducting ebola tests on humans. http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT02041715
This is official confirmation of Dr. Boyle and Dr. Broderick’s reports that the US government has conducted ebola experiments. Perhaps the vaccine was not effective, and those on whom the experiment was conducted came down with ebola and perhaps also employees in the US bio-warfare laboratories located in Africa where the experiment was conducted.
It appears that the test consists of giving an ebola vaccine and then exposing the unaware person to ebola, apparently an engineered version for bio-warfare. Whatever the tests are, it is clear that Boyle and Broderick in their articles below are correct that experimentation with ebola by the US government is underway.
Two Scientists Say Ebola Originated In US Bio-warfare Lab
Experts have brought to the public’s attention that ebola is a genetically modified organism developed in US biowarfare laboratories in Africa.
In the two articles below reproduced from Tom Feeley’s Information Clearing House
(a good site worthy of your support), Dr. Francis Boyle of the University of Illinois and
Dr. Cyril Broderick of the University of Liberia and the University of Delaware provide their fact-based assessments. Dr. Boyle drafted the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, the US implementing legislation for the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention.
For speaking out, both Boyle and Broderick will be viciously attacked by the US print and TV media. Remember the case of Gary Webb who exposed the CIA’s drug-running that supported the Contras in Nicaragua. The cocaine that launched the War on Drugs was brought in by the CIA. http://www.opednews.com/articles/WPost-s-Slimy-Assault-on-G-by-Robert-Parry-CIA_Cocaine_Gary-Webb_Journalism-141018-836.html

US Bio-warfare Laboratories in West Africa Are The Origins Of The Ebola Epidemic
Professor Francis A. Boyle interviewed by Aggeliki Dimopoulou
Could Ebola Have Escaped From US Bio-warfare Labs? American law professor Francis A. Boyle, answers questions for tvxs.gr and reveals that USA have been using West Africa as an offshore to circumvent the Convention on Biological Weapons and do bio-warfare work.
Is Ebola just a result of health crisis in Africa – because of the large gaps in personnel, equipment and medicines – as some experts suggest?
That isn’t true at all. This is just propaganda being put out by everyone. It seems to me, that what we are dealing with here is a biological warfare work that was conducted at the bio-warfare laboratories set up by the USA on the west coast of Africa. And if you look at a map produced by the Center of Disease Control you can see where these laboratories are located. And they are across the heart of Ebola epidemic, at the west coast of Africa. So, I think these laboratories, one or more of them, are the origins of the Ebola epidemic.
US government agencies are supposed to do defensive biological warfare research in these labs. Is there any information about what are they working on?
Well, that’s what they tell you. But if you study what the CDC and the Pentagon do… They say it is defensive, but this is just for public relation purposes than anything. It’s a trick. What it means is what they decide at these bio-warfare labs. They say, “well we have to develop a vaccine”, so that’s their defensive argument. Then what they do is to develop the bio-warfare agent itself. Usually by means of DNA genetic engineering. And then they say, “well to get the vaccine we have to develop the bio-warfare agent” – usually by DNA genetic engineering – and then they try to work on the vaccine. So it’s two uses type of work. I haven’t read all these bio-warfare contracts but that’s typical of the way the Pentagon CDC has been doing this since at least the 1980’s. I have absolute proof from a Pentagon document that the Center of Disease Control was doing bio-warfare work for the Pentagon in Sierra Leone, the heart of the outbreak, as early as 1988. And indeed it was probably before then because they would have had to construct the lab and that would have taken some time. So we know that Fort Detrick and the Center for Disease Control are over there, Tulane University, which is a well-known bio-warfare center here in USA – I would say notorious for it – is there. They all have been over there.
In addition, USA government made sure that Liberia, a former colony of the USA, never became a party to the Biological Weapons Convention, so they were able to do bio – warfare work over there – going back to 1980’s – the USA government, in order to circumvent the Biological Weapons Convention. Likewise, Guinea the third state affected here – and there is an increase now – didn’t even sign the Biological Weapons Convention. So, it seems to me, that the different agencies of the US government have been always there try to circumvent the Biological Weapons Convention and engage bio-warfare work. Indeed, we had one of these two lab bio-warriors admit in the NY Times that they were not over there for the purpose of either screening or treating people. That’s not what these labs are about. These labs are there in my opinion to do bio-warfare work for different agencies of the US government. Indeed, many of them were set up by USAID. And everyone knows that USAID is penetrated all up and down by the CIA and CIA has been involved in bio-warfare work as well.
Are we being told the truth about Ebola? Is that big outbreak began all of a sudden? How does it spread so quickly?
The whole outbreak that we see in the west coast of Africa, this is Zaire/Ebola. The most dangerous of five subtypes of Ebola. Zaire/Ebola originated 3500 km from the west coast of Africa. There is absolutely no way that it could have been transmitted 3500 km. And if you read the recently published Harvard study on the DNA analysis of the west Africas’ Zaire/Ebola there is no explanation about how the virus moved there. And indeed, it’s been reported in the NY Times that the Zaire/Ebola was found there in 1976, and then WHO ordered to be set to Porton Down in Britain, which is the British equivalent to Fort Detrick, where they manufacture all the biological weapons for Britain. And then Britain sent it to the US Center for Disease Control. And we know for a fact that the Center for Disease Control has been involved in biological warfare work. And then it appears, at least from whatever I’ve been able to put together in a public record, that the CDC and several others US bio-warriors exported Zaire/Ebola to west Africa, to their labs there, where they were doing bio-warfare work on it. So, I believe this is the origins of the Zaire/Ebola pandemic we are seeing now in west Africa.
Why would they do that?
Why would they do that? As I suggested to try to circumvent the Biological Weapons Convention to which the US government is a party. So, always bio-warriors do use offensive and defensive bio-warfare work, violating the Biological Weapons Convention. So effectively they try to offshore it into west Africa where Liberia is not a party and Guinea is not a party. Sierra Leone is a party. But in Sierra Leone and Liberia there were disturbances which kept the world from really paying attention of what was going on in these labs.
USA sent troops to «fight» Ebola. What do you think about that move?
The US military just invaded Liberia. They send in the 101st Airborne Division to Liberia. That’s an elite division of combat and they have no training to provide medical treatment to anyone. They are there to establish a military base in Liberia. And the British are doing the same in Sierra Leone. The French are already in Mali and Senegal. So, they’re not sending military people there to treat these people. No, I’m sorry.
Weren’t they afraid Ebola’s going to go out of control even in the USA or EU in a massive way?
It’s already gone in the USA and the European Union. So, there it is. Which raises the question: Was this Zaire/Ebola weaponized at any of these labs? I don’t have an answer to that question. I am trying to get an answer. And therefore it is much more dangerous than the WHO and the CDC are telling everyone. The WHO and the CDC are up to their eyeballs in this. They know all about what ‘s going on. It was the WHO that ordered the original Zaire/Ebola in 1976 to be sent to Porton Down for biological warfare purposes. So this could be more dangerous than the WHO and the CDC are saying.
And you can’t believe anything they telling you because they are involved in that. But certainly I can’t say it has been weaponized. I don’t know that yet for sure. I have the Harvard genetic analysis of it. When I was in college I had very good courses in genetics, and biochemistry and population biology but I am not a professor of genetics. I have a friend who is a professor of genetics and he is going to take a look at this and try to figure out if there’s been DNA genetic engineering perpetrated or performed on the Zaire/Ebola. Is there a genetically modified organism at work, a GMO? I don’t know. But if a GMO is at work that’s a pretty good sign it’s been weaponized. But in anyway, it is far more dangerous than the CDC and the WHO are telling anyone, because it’s clearly transmitted for a certain distance – we don’t know how far – by air. Breathing and coughing and sneezing. So, anyone treating people, seems to me, are going to need not only a protective suit but probably a breathing apparatus, at minimum. And you saw what happened to that Spanish nurse and that Spanish priest that were brought in, infected with Ebola. So right now the WHO and the CDC are telling healthcare workers that in addition to suits they need breathing apparatuses. So, again, I don’t believe you can trust anything the WHO or the CDC are telling you. And I really don’t know about the European Health Agency… If they‘re believing the WHO and the CDC then, in my opinion, they ‘re not properly protecting the health of the European people. And it’s simply bizarre that the CDC and WHO are relegating the screenings to the people in west Africa. It’s just bizarre. They need to be protecting health of their own people and they aren’t doing that. I read some of the European press but I’m not sure precisely what the European Health Agency is recommending but they certainly can’t rely upon the WHO and the CDC. As for Greece, I know you have your own Health Ministry there and they cannot rely upon them at all, as well.
Some experts told recently the Forbes magazine that even ISIS could use Ebola as a biological weapon. I would like to have your comment on that.
This is total propaganda. These people are trying to distract public opinion from the fact. My opinion is that the origins of the current pandemic came out of the USA bio-warfare labs in west Africa. That’s what is going on here. ISIS has nothing to do with this. That’s just propaganda which is trying to scare and distract public attention away of what really is going on here. They doing the same thing here in USA. That’s what we need to concentrate on. Number one. And number two? We have to find out: was this Zaire/Ebola GMOed by either Porton Down or CDC or these US bio-warfare labs? It is far more dangerous than it currently appears. That’s the real issue. And I don’t have an answer to that question. It was the US government labs that research here. I’m not saying that Ebola was released deliberately by these labs. I have no evidence to that. It could have escaped. But this is really what we need to be focusing on. Not ISIS. It’s ridiculous, it’s preposterous.
What do you think should be done?
I would encourage the Greek government to convene an emergency meeting of your top health science people and to look into this on comprehensive bases and figure out what to do under these circumstances to protect the health of people of Greece. In particular they must not believe anything they are being told by the WHO and CDC. There is a need of open objective minds here about what is really going on. I think this needs to be done.
Back in 1985, I was down in Nicaragua investigating atrocities of the Contras there and all of a sudden the country was hit with an outbreak of a hemorrhaging Dengue Fever which is similar to Ebola. And it seemed pretty suspicious to me. So I met with some of the highest level officials of the Nicaraguan government and said: “you know, this very well could be US bio-warfare against Nicaragua. They did the same thing to Cuba. And my advice is you convene health care medical experts, not politicians, to look into this. And if you agree with me and that’s the result, file a complaint with the UN Security Council for violation of the Biological Weapons Convention against the USA”. And eventually that is what they did. Here I am not recommending the Greek authorities to file a complaint against the USA. What I am recommending is the same thing I did to the Nicaraguans. That you need to convene some of your top experts geneticists, doctors, etc.
And don’t get anyone in this group who has ever done any type of research for any agency of the US government. They are completely unreliable. Get Greeks experts completely independent of the US government or the British government. It’s funny here in the USA when the media want to get experts on this, all the experts they talk to are people who have done biological warfare work for the USA. And they are up to their eyeballs on this Ebola. And doing research on this Ebola. Of course they’re not going to give you proper advice. So, find this experts and make sure they never done any research for USA or Britain on any of this stuff but are qualified and can give you a qualified opinion of what is really going on and how dangerous this stuff is. And then aim to protect the health of Greek people. You definitely don’t have to wait for the European Union in Brussels to do it for you. I’m not telling Greece what to do. I’m just telling you how to do it. And this should be done immediately. It should have been done already. But ok, better late than ever.

Ebola Is A GMO Product Of US Bio-warfare Laboratories
Dr. Cyril Broderick
Dear World Citizens:
I have read a number of articles from your Internet outreach as well as articles from other sources about the casualties in Liberia and other West African countries about the human devastation caused by the Ebola virus. About a week ago, I read an article published in the Internet news summary publication of the Friends of Liberia that said that there was an agreement that the initiation of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa was due to the contact of a two-year old child with bats that had flown in from the Congo. That report made me disconcerted with the reporting about Ebola, and it stimulated a response to the “Friends of Liberia,” saying that African people are not ignorant and gullible, as is being implicated. A response from Dr. Verlon Stone said that the article was not theirs, and that “Friends of Liberia” was simply providing a service. He then asked if he could publish my letter in their Internet forum. I gave my permission, but I have not seen it published. Because of the widespread loss of life, fear, physiological trauma, and despair among Liberians and other West African citizens, it is incumbent that I make a contribution to the resolution of this devastating situation, which may continue to recur, if it is not properly and adequately confronted. I will address the situation in five (5) points:
1. EBOLA IS A GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISM (GMO)
Horowitz (1998) was deliberate and unambiguous when he explained the threat of new diseases in his text, Emerging Viruses: AIDS and Ebola – Nature, Accident or Intentional. In his interview with Dr. Robert Strecker in Chapter 7, the discussion, in the early 1970s, made it obvious that the war was between countries that hosted the KGB and the CIA, and the ‘manufacture’ of ‘AIDS-Like Viruses’ was clearly directed at the other. In passing during the Interview, mention was made of Fort Detrick, “the Ebola Building,” and ‘a lot of problems with strange illnesses’ in “Frederick [Maryland].” By Chapter 12 in his text, he had confirmed the existence of an American Military-Medical-Industry that conducts biological weapons tests under the guise of administering vaccinations to control diseases and improve the health of “black Africans overseas.” The book is an excellent text, and all leaders plus anyone who has interest in science, health, people, and intrigue should study it. I am amazed that African leaders are making no acknowledgements or reference to these documents.
2. EBOLA HAS A TERRIBLE HISTORY, AND TESTING HAS BEEN SECRETLY TAKING PLACE IN AFRICA
I am now reading The Hot Zone, a novel, by Richard Preston (copyrighted 1989 and 1994); it is heart-rending. The prolific and prominent writer, Steven King, is quoted as saying that the book is “One of the most horrifying things I have ever read. What a remarkable piece of work.” As a New York Times bestseller, The Hot Zone is presented as “A terrifying true story.” Terrifying, yes, because the pathological description of what was found in animals killed by the Ebola virus is what the virus has been doing to citizens of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia in its most recent outbreak: Ebola virus destroys peoples’ internal organs and the body deteriorates rapidly after death. It softens and the tissues turn into jelly, even if it is refrigerated to keep it cold. Spontaneous liquefaction is what happens to the body of people killed by the Ebola virus! The author noted in Point 1, Dr. Horowitz, chides The Hot Zone for writing to be politically correct; I understand because his book makes every effort to be very factual. The 1976 Ebola incident in Zaire, during President Mobutu Sese Seko, was the introduction of the GMO Ebola to Africa.
3. SITES AROUND AFRICA, AND IN WEST AFRICA, HAVE OVER THE YEARS BEEN SET UP FOR TESTING EMERGING DISEASES, ESPECIALLY EBOLA
The World Health Organization (WHO) and several other UN Agencies have been implicated in selecting and enticing African countries to participate in the testing events, promoting vaccinations, but pursuing various testing regiments. The August 2, 2014 article, West Africa: What are US Biological Warfare Researchers Doing in the Ebola Zone? by Jon Rappoport of Global Research pinpoints the problem that is facing African governments.
Obvious in this and other reports are, among others:
(a) The US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), a well-known centre for bio-war research, located at Fort Detrick, Maryland;
(b) Tulane University, in New Orleans, USA, winner of research grants, including a grant of more than $7 million the National Institute of Health (NIH) to fund research with the Lassa viral hemorrhagic fever;
(c) the US Center for Disease Control (CDC);
(d) Doctors Without Borders (also known by its French name, Medicins Sans Frontiers);
(e) Tekmira, a Canadian pharmaceutical company;
(f) The UK’s GlaxoSmithKline; and
(g) the Kenema Government Hospital in Kenema, Sierra Leone.
Reports narrate stories of the US Department of Defense (DoD) funding Ebola trials on humans, trials which started just weeks before the Ebola outbreak in Guinea and Sierra Leone. Disturbingly, many reports also conclude that the US government has a viral fever bioterrorism research laboratory in Kenema, a town at the epicentre of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The only relevant positive and ethical olive-branch seen in all of my reading is that Theguardian.com reported, “The US government funding of Ebola trials on healthy humans comes amid warnings by top scientists in Harvard and Yale that such virus experiments risk triggering a worldwide pandemic.” That threat still persists.
4. THE NEED FOR LEGAL ACTION TO OBTAIN REDRESS FOR DAMAGES INCURRED DUE TO THE PERPETUATION OF INJUSTICE IN THE DEATH, INJURY AND TRAUMA IMPOSED ON LIBERIANS AND OTHER AFRICANS BY THE EBOLA AND OTHER DISEASE AGENTS.
The U. S., Canada, France, and the U. K. are all implicated in the detestable and devilish deeds that these Ebola tests are. There is the need to pursue criminal and civil redress for damages, and African countries and people should secure legal representation to seek damages from these countries, some corporations, and the United Nations. Evidence seems abundant against Tulane University, and suits should start there. Yoichi Shimatsu’s article, The Ebola Breakout Coincided with UN Vaccine Campaigns, as published on August 18, 2014, in the Liberty Beacon.
5. AFRICAN LEADERS AND AFRICAN COUNTRIES NEED TO TAKE THE LEAD IN DEFENDING BABIES, CHILDREN, AFRICAN WOMEN, AFRICAN MEN, AND THE ELDERLY. THESE CITIZENS DO NOT DESERVE TO BE USED AS GUINEA PIGS!
Africa must not relegate the Continent to become the locality for disposal and the deposition of hazardous chemicals, dangerous drugs, and chemical or biological agents of emerging diseases. There is urgent need for affirmative action in protecting the less affluent of poorer countries, especially African citizens, whose countries are not as scientifically and industrially endowed as the United States and most Western countries, sources of most viral or bacterial GMOs that are strategically designed as biological weapons. It is most disturbing that the U. S. Government has been operating a viral hemorrhagic fever bioterrorism research laboratory in Sierra Leone. Are there others? Wherever they exist, it is time to terminate them. If any other sites exist, it is advisable to follow the delayed but essential step: Sierra Leone closed the US bioweapons lab and stopped Tulane University for further testing.
The world must be alarmed. All Africans, Americans, Europeans, Middle Easterners, Asians, and people from every conclave on Earth should be astonished. African people, notably citizens more particularly of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone are victimized and are dying every day. Listen to the people who distrust the hospitals, who cannot shake hands, hug their relatives and friends. Innocent people are dying, and they need our help. The countries are poor and cannot afford the whole lot of personal protection equipment (PPE) that the situation requires. The threat is real, and it is larger than a few African countries.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Dr. Cyril E. Broderick, Sr.

US Bio-warfare Laboratories In West Africa Are The Origins Of The Ebola Epidemic says American law professor Francis A. Boyle
Professor Francis A. Boyle |
By Aggeliki Dimopoulou
Could Ebola Have Escaped From US Bio-warfare Labs? American law professor Francis A. Boyle, answers questions for tvxs.gr and reveals that USA have been using West Africa as an offshore to circumvent the Convention on Biological Weapons and do bio-warfare work.
Is Ebola just a result of health crisis in Africa - because of the large gaps in personnel, equipment and medicines - as some experts suggest?
And then they say, “well to get the vaccine we have to develop the bio-warfare agent” - usually by DNA genetic engineering - and then they try to work on the vaccine. So we know that Fort Detrick and the Center for Disease Control are over there, Tulane University, which is a well-known bio-warfare center here in USA - I would say notorious for it - is there. They all have been over there.
In addition, USA government made sure that Liberia, a former colony of the USA, never became a party to the Biological Weapons Convention, so they were able to do bio – warfare work over there - going back to 1980’s - the USA government, in order to circumvent the Biological Weapons Convention. Likewise, Guinea the third state affected here - and there is an increase now – didn’t even sign the Biological Weapons Convention.
But in anyway, it is far more dangerous than the CDC and the WHO are telling anyone, because it’s clearly transmitted for a certain distance - we don’t know how far - by air. I read some of the European press but I’m not sure precisely what the European Health Agency is recommending but they certainly can't rely upon the WHO and the CDC.

It is highly unfortunate that a prominent Liberian News Organization will engage in such a preposterous and baseless claims. This is sad commentary for journalism in Liberia; what happens with vetting news story? Your role in the society is to educate people but not to misinform them.

Any Liberian child and probably other Africans, who were born in the late 70's and eighties, like I was, who were forcibly vaccinated with donated drugs from Western countries were technically lab rats. Why do you think most Liberians (of that era) test positive for TB, Hepatitis, etc. even though they don't have these illnesses? Look on your arm, you will see the booster shot mark!! This is because of those experimental antibodies these so-called vaccines infused into our young bodies! I am not suggesting that this Prof's argument is all true, but its basis is steep in reality and not farfetched.

You state that Ebola was found in Virginia in 1989, then why did it travel all the way to Liberia and Sierraleone. People like you believe in reports only coming from America media but you don't believe any report coming from Africa. This paper is creating awareness so that African will refuse any vacination as a biogun that they manufacture and use as a weapon of mass destruction only to anihilate African race.

I too agree 100% with Dr. Broderick. Genetic engineering is constantly going on all the time, creating more deadly micro-organism for military use. The USA Bio warfare military establishments are involved in many of these researches; just as it was secretly involved in infecting people of African descent with syphilis in 1932 at Tuskegee Military Institute, a training base for Black military pilots. To the contrary, anyone who claims that this is impossible is not only naïve but ill-informed.

Got sulfur?
Jeff Leen, the Washington Post's assistant managing editor for investigations, begins his renewed attack on the late Gary Webb's Contra-cocaine reporting with a falsehood.
Leen insists that there is a journalism dictum that "an extraordinary claim requires extraordinary proof." But Leen must know that it is not true. Many extraordinary claims, such as assertions in 2002-03 that Iraq was hiding arsenals of WMDs, were published as flat-fact without "extraordinary proof" or any real evidence at all, including by Leen's colleagues at the Washington Post.
However, if new evidence undercut those suspicions and shifted the blame to people on "the U.S. side" -- say, the Syrian rebels and the Ukrainian government -- then the standards of proof suddenly skyrocket beyond reach. So what you get is not "responsible" journalism -- as Leen tries to suggest -- but hypocrisy and propaganda. One set of rules for the goose and another set for the gander.
The Contra-Cocaine Case
Or to go back to the Contra-cocaine scandal that Brian Barger and I first exposed for the Associated Press in 1985: If we were writing that the leftist Nicaraguan Sandinista government -- the then U.S. "enemy" -- was shipping cocaine to the United States, any flimsy claim would have sufficed. But the standard of proof ratcheted up when the subject of our story was cocaine smuggling by President Ronald Reagan's beloved Contras.
In other words, the real dictum is that there are two standards, double standards, something that a careerist like Leen knows in his gut but doesn't want you to know. All the better to suggest that Gary Webb was guilty of violating some noble principle of journalism.
But Leen is wrong in another way -- because there was "extraordinary proof" establishing that the Contras were implicated in drug trafficking and that the Reagan administration was looking the other way.
When Barger and I wrote the first story about Contra-cocaine trafficking almost three decades ago, we already had "extraordinary proof," including documents from Costa Rica, statements by Contras and Contra backers, and admissions from officials in the Drug Enforcement Administration and Ronald Reagan's National Security Council staff.
However, Leen seems to dismiss our work as nothing but getting "tips" about Contra-cocaine trafficking as if Barger and I were like the hacks at the Washington Post and the New York Times who wait around for authorized handouts from the U.S. government.
Following the Money
Barger and I actually were looking for something different when we encountered the evidence on Contra-cocaine trafficking. We were trying to figure out how the Contras were sustaining themselves in the field after Congress cut off the CIA's financing for their war.
We were, in the old-fashioned journalistic parlance, "following the money." The problem was the money led, in part, to the reality that all the major Contra organizations were collaborating with drug traffickers.
Besides our work in the mid-1980s, Sen. John Kerry's follow-on Contra-cocaine investigation added substantially more evidence. Yet Leen and his cohorts apparently felt no need to pursue the case any further or even give respectful attention to Kerry's official findings.
Indeed, when Kerry's report was issued in April 1989, the Washington Post ran a dismissive story by Michael Isikoff buried deep inside the paper. Newsweek dubbed Kerry "a randy conspiracy buff." In his new article attacking Gary Webb, Leen just says:
In this context, Leen paints himself as the true investigative journalist who knew the inside story of the Contra-cocaine tale from the beginning. He wrote:
"Beginning in 1985, journalists started pursuing tips about the CIA's role in the drug trade. Was the agency allowing cocaine to flow into the United States as a means to fund its secret war supporting the contra rebels in Nicaragua? Many journalists, including me, chased that story from different angles, but the extraordinary proof was always lacking."
Again, what Leen says is not true. Leen makes no reference to the groundbreaking AP story in 1985 or other disclosures in the ensuing years. He just insists that "the extraordinary proof" was lacking -- which it may have been for him given his lackluster abilities. He then calls the final report of Kerry's investigation the "final word."
But Leen doesn't explain why he and his fellow mainstream journalists were so incurious about this major scandal that they would remain passive even in the wake of a Senate investigation. It's also not true that Kerry's report was the "final word" prior to Webb reviving the scandal in 1996.
Government Witnesses
In 1991, during the narcotics trafficking trial of Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega, the U.S. government itself presented witnesses who connected the Contras to the Medellin cartel.
Indeed, after testimony by Medellin cartel kingpin Carlos Lehder about his $10 million contribution to the Contras, the Washington Post wrote in a Nov. 27, 1991 editorial that "The Kerry hearings didn't get the attention they deserved at the time," and that "The Noriega trial brings this sordid aspect of the Nicaraguan engagement to fresh public attention."
But the Post offered its readers no explanation for why Kerry's hearings had been largely ignored, with the Post itself a leading culprit in this journalistic misfeasance. Nor did the Post and the other leading newspapers use the opening created by the Noriega trial to do anything to rectify their past neglect.
In other words, it didn't seem to matter how much "extraordinary proof" the Washington Post or Jeff Leen had. Nothing would be sufficient to report seriously on the Contra-cocaine scandal, not even when the U.S. government vouched for the evidence.
So, Leen is trying to fool you when he presents himself as a "responsible journalist" weighing the difficult evidentiary choices. He's just the latest hack to go after Gary Webb, which has become urgent again for the mainstream media in the face of "Kill the Messenger," a new movie about Webb's ordeal.
What Leen won't face up to is that the tag-team destruction of Gary Webb in 1996-97 -- by the Washington Post, the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times -- represented one of the most shameful episodes in the history of American journalism.
The Big Papers tore down an honest journalist to cover up their own cowardly failure to investigate and expose a grave national security crime, the Reagan administration's tolerance for and protection of drug trafficking into the United States by the CIA's client Contra army.
This journalistic failure occurred even though the Associated Press -- far from a radical news outlet -- and a Senate investigation (not to mention the Noriega trial) had charted the way.
Leen's Assault
Contrary to Leen's column, "Kill the Messenger" is actually a fairly honest portrayal of what happened when Webb exposed the consequences of the Contra cocaine smuggling after the drugs reached the United States. One channel fed into an important Los Angeles supply chain that produced crack.
But Leen tells you that "The Hollywood version of [Webb's] story -- a truth-teller persecuted by the cowardly and craven mainstream media -- is pure fiction."
He then lauds the collaboration of the Big Three newspapers in destroying Webb and creating such enormous pressure on Webb's newspaper, the San Jose Mercury News, that the executive editor Jerry Ceppos threw his own reporter under the bus. To Leen, this disgraceful behavior represented the best of American journalism.
Leen wrote:
"Gradually, the Mercury News backed away from Webb's scoop. The paper transferred him to its Cupertino bureau and did an internal review of his facts and his methods. Jerry Ceppos, the Mercury News's executive editor, wrote a piece concluding that the story did not meet the newspaper's standards -- a courageous stance, I thought."
"Courageous"? What an astounding characterization of Ceppos's act of career cowardice.
But Leen continues by explaining his role in the Webb takedown. After all, Leen was then the drug expert at the Miami Herald, which like the San Jose Mercury News was a Knight Ridder newspaper. Leen says his editors sought his opinion about Webb's "Dark Alliance" series.
Though acknowledging that he was "envious" of Webb's story when it appeared in 1996, Leen writes that he examined it and found it wanting, supposedly because of alleged overstatements. He proudly asserts that because of his critical analysis, the Miami Herald never published Webb's series.
But Leen goes further. He falsely characterizes the U.S. government's later admissions contained in inspector general reports by the CIA and Justice Department. If Leen had bothered to read the reports thoroughly, he would have realized that the reports actually establish that Webb -- and indeed Kerry, Barger and I -- grossly understated the seriousness of the Contra-cocaine problem which began at the start of the Contra movement in the early 1980s and lasted through the decade until the end of the war.
Leen apparently assumes that few Americans will take the trouble to study and understand what the reports said. That is why I published a lengthy account of the U.S. government's admissions -- both after the reports were published in 1998 and as "Kill the Messenger" was hitting the theaters in October. [See Consortiumnews.com's "The Sordid Contra-Cocaine Saga."]
Playing It Safe
Instead of diving into the reeds of the CIA and DOJ reports, Leen does what he and his mainstream colleagues have done for the past three decades, try to minimize the seriousness of the Reagan administration tolerating cocaine trafficking by its Contra clients and even obstructing official investigations that threatened to expose this crime of state.
Instead, to Leen, the only important issue is whether Gary Webb's story was perfect. But no journalistic product is perfect. There are always more details that a reporter would like to have, not to mention compromises with editors over how a story is presented. And, on a complex story, there are always some nuances that could have been explained better. That is simply the reality of journalism, the so-called first draft of history.
But Leen pretends that it is the righteous thing to destroy a reporter who is not perfect in his execution of a difficult story -- and that Gary Webb thus deserved to be banished from his profession for life, a cruel punishment that impoverished Webb and ultimately drove him to suicide in 2004.
But if Leen is correct -- that a reporter who takes on a very tough story and doesn't get every detail precisely correct should be ruined and disgraced -- what does he tell his Washington Post colleague Bob Woodward, whose heroic Watergate reporting included an error about whether a claim regarding who controlled the White House slush fund was made before a grand jury.
While Woodward and his colleague Carl Bernstein were right about the substance, they were wrong about its presentation to a grand jury. Does Leen really believe that Woodward and Bernstein should have been drummed out of journalism for that mistake? Instead, they were lionized as heroes of investigative journalism despite the error -- as they should have been.
Yet, when Webb exposed what was arguably an even worse crime of state -- the Reagan administration turning a blind eye to the importation of tons of cocaine into the United States -- Leen thinks any abuse of Webb is justified because his story wasn't perfect.
Those two divergent judgments -- on how Woodward's mistake was understandably excused and how Webb's imperfections were never forgiven -- speak volumes about what has happened to the modern profession of journalism at least in the mainstream U.S. media. In reality, Leen's insistence on perfection and "extraordinary proof" is just a dodge to rationalize letting well-connected criminals and their powerful accomplices off the hook.
In the old days, the journalistic goal was to "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable," but the new rule appears to be: "any standard of proof works when condemning the weak or the despised but you need unachievable 'extraordinary evidence' if you're writing about the strong and the politically popular."
Who Is Unfit?
Leen adds a personal reflection on Webb as somehow not having the proper temperament to be an investigative reporter. Leen wrote:
It's interesting -- and sadly typical -- that while Leen chastises Webb for not admitting error, Leen offers no self-criticism of himself for missing what even the CIA has now admitted, that the Contras were tied up in the cocaine trade. Doesn't an institutional confession by the CIA's inspector general constitute "extraordinary evidence"?
Also, since the CIA's inspector general's report included substantial evidence of Contra-cocaine trafficking running through Miami, shouldn't Leen offer some mea culpa about missing these serious crimes that were going on right under his nose -- in his city and on his beat? What sort of reporter is "preternaturally calm" about failing to do his job right and letting the public suffer as Leen did?
Perhaps all one needs to know about the sorry state of today's mainstream journalism is that Jeff Leen is the Washington Post's assistant managing editor for investigations and Gary Webb is no longer with us.

A different rule actually governs American journalism -- that journalists need "extraordinary proof" if a story puts the U.S. government or an "ally" in a negative light but pretty much anything goes when criticizing an "enemy."
If, for instance, the Post wanted to accuse the Syrian government of killing civilians with Sarin gas or blame Russian-backed rebels for the shoot-down of a civilian airliner over Ukraine, any scraps of proof -- no matter how dubious -- would be good enough (as was the actual case in 2013 and 2014, respectively).

"After an exhaustive three-year investigation, the committee's report concluded that CIA officials were aware of the smuggling activities of some of their charges who supported the contras, but it stopped short of implicating the agency directly in drug dealing. That seemed to be the final word on the matter."
But why was it the "final word"? Why didn't Leen and others who had missed the scandal as it was unfolding earlier in the decade at least try to build on Kerry's findings. After all, these were now official U.S. government records. Wasn't that "extraordinary" enough?
In this context, Leen paints himself as the true investigative journalist who knew the inside story of the Contra-cocaine tale from the beginning. He wrote:
"As an investigative reporter covering the drug trade for the Miami Herald ... I wrote about the explosion of cocaine in America in the 1980s and 1990s, and the role of Colombia's Medellin Cartel in fueling it.

"The New York Times, The Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times, in a rare show of unanimity, all wrote major pieces knocking the story down for its overblown claims and undernourished reporting.
Leen wrote:
"After Webb was transferred to Cupertino [in disgrace], I debated him at a conference of the Investigative Reporters and Editors organization in Phoenix in June 1997. He was preternaturally calm. While investigative journalists are usually bundles of insecurities and questions and skepticism, he brushed off any criticism and admitted no error. When asked how I felt about it all, I said I felt sorry for him. I still feel that way."

The Catholic Church in Uganda formerly invited him here according to the Archbishop of Kampala Diocese Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.
Early this year, the much awaited visit by the Pope was postponed with the Pontiff confirming he is unable to make the trip.
The celebrations of the 50 years of the Canonisation of the Uganda Martyrs, which the Pope had been officially invited to preside over on October 18, were also postponed.
The last Pope to visit Uganda was John Paul II, in March 1993. His predecessor, Pope Paul VI, had visited Uganda in August 1969.

Well , perhaps many countries feel that the US should clean its own mess: US envoy hits out at global response to Ebola: She said many countries "are signing on to resolutions and praising the good work that the United States and the United Kingdom and others are doing, but they themselves haven't taken the responsibility yet to send docs, to send beds, to send the reasonable amount of money."
US envoy hits out at global response to Ebola

CONAKRY - The US ambassador to the United Nations has criticised the level of international support for nations hit by Ebola as she begins a tour of west African nations at the epicentre of the deadly outbreak.
Samantha Power said before arriving in Guinea on Sunday that too many leaders were praising the efforts of countries like the United States and Britain to accelerate aid to the worst-affected nations, while doing little themselves.
"The international response to Ebola needs to be taken to a wholly different scale than it is right now," Power told NBC News.
She said many countries "are signing on to resolutions and praising the good work that the United States and the United Kingdom and others are doing, but they themselves haven't taken the responsibility yet to send docs, to send beds, to send the reasonable amount of money."
Besides Guinea, Power will travel to Sierra Leone and Liberia -- the three nations that account for the vast majority of the 4,922 deaths from the Ebola epidemic.
More than 10,000 people have contracted the virus in west Africa, according to the latest World Health Organization figures.
Another country in the region, Mali, is scrambling to prevent a wider outbreak after a two-year-old girl died from her Ebola infection following a 1,000-kilometre (600-mile) bus ride from Guinea. She was Mali's first recorded case of the disease.

Ebola can fell its victims within days, causing severe fever and muscle pain, weakness, vomiting and diarrhoea -- in some cases shutting down organs and causing unstoppable bleeding.
The tropical virus is spread though close contact with the sweat, vomit, blood or other bodily fluids of an infected person. No widely-available medicine or vaccine exists.
'Feel like a criminal'
In the United States, an American nurse who was placed in quarantine after caring for Ebola sufferers in Sierra Leone has complained she was made to feel "like a criminal" upon arrival in New Jersey.
Kaci Hickox, who later tested negative, was the first person to be placed under a mandatory 21-day quarantine for medical staff returning to parts of the US who may have had contact with Ebola patients in west Africa.
The new rules took effect in the states of New York, New Jersey and Illinois on Friday, the same day Hickox returned.
"This is not a situation I would wish on anyone," Hickox wrote in The Dallas Morning News.

"I am scared about how healthcare workers will be treated at airports when they declare that they have been fighting Ebola in west Africa. I am scared that, like me, they will arrive and see a frenzy of disorganisation, fear and, most frightening, quarantine."
She said she was being kept outside the main hospital building, with only a hospital bed, a non-flush chemical toilet, and no shower.
"To put me in prison is just inhumane," she told CNN on Sunday.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio attempted to quell the firestorm over Hickox's outspoken remarks, saying "this hero was treated with disrespect, was treated with a sense that she had done something wrong, when she hadn't."
Late Sunday New York state eased its rules for how those arriving from Ebola-stricken west Africa must be treated, under pressure from the White House, where officials believe these rules could deter health workers from going to fight the epidemic.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said there would no longer be a blanket quarantine procedure from all people entering the state from affected countries in west Africa.
Instead, if someone arrives from an affected area with no symptoms, and without having had direct contact with people infected with the virus, no home confinement will be required. Health officials will monitor these travellers twice daily until the 21-day incubation period has expired.

'Emergency' in Mali
President Barack Obama told Americans on Saturday they must be "guided by the facts, not fear" after a 33-year-old US doctor returning from Africa became the first Ebola case in New York City.
Meanwhile, Australian authorities said early on Monday that a teenager who was in isolation in hospital had tested negative for Ebola after she developed a fever following her arrival from Guinea.
The 18-year-old, who arrived in Australia 12 days ago with eight other family members, had been in home quarantine in Brisbane before she developed a raised temperature.
In Mali, the WHO warned of an "emergency" situation after a girl died from Ebola following a bus ride from Guinea with her grandmother.
But an advisor to the Malian health ministry told AFP the 43 people placed under medical observation in Kayes in western Mali -- where the girl died on Friday -- show no signs of the illness.
About a dozen other people are also being observed in the capital Bamako, where the girl had spent about three hours visiting relatives on the way to Kayes.
Mauritania meanwhile reinforced controls on its border with Mali, which effectively closed the frontier, according to local sources.
